My first question as I consider my first Canik. (not my first 9mm semi-auto pistol)
I've watched and/or read 6 reviews from different people on UTube and they state a pull weight any where from 3 to 6 pounds from the factory.
I was told that the "norm" from the Canik factory for this model is advertised as =~ 3.5 pounds, but have been able to confirm that from the Canik web site.

So, I guess I'm asking TP9 SFx owners what their trigger pull weight was from the factory.
Also, if they have lowered it, what did they get it to and how did they do it.
I've also read that Glock springs will swap in easily and do the job of getting the weight down as low as 2.5 pounds.
I'm probably looking for it to be in the 3 to 3.5 pound range which would closely match my .22 bullseye pistol.

thanks in advance,
dennis

My SFx started out between 5 and 6 lbs pull and it was good, but not great.

I polished all the internal moving parts, put in a Freedomsmith trigger, 6.5# Ghost spring and lots of shooting and dry firing and I'm right at 3# to 3.25#. That is perfect for me in USPSA and Steel matches.

Some owners have reported here going down to 2# or less, to low for my blood.

Check out the thread, "Weaponizing the SFx". Tons of info there are fun things to do to your SFx.

Don't chase a low number just for the low number; you'll likely be disappointed. Instead, strive for quality in having a crisp, clean trigger pull.

A precise 3.5 lb trigger is far better than a mushy 3.0 lb trigger.

If you like to tinker and you're mechanically inclined with proper tools, it'll be fun. If not, it will likely be a frustrating experience.

Agree with @BentAero , the only reason to be looking for "really" light/crisp trigger is for a competition gun. 3-3.5 pounds would be a nice low weight for a range/comp gun, but light in terms of a carry gun.

My SFx was setup strictly for competition use. Got the trigger as good as it was going to get, which was pretty amazing considering what you got out of the box, and where a do-it-yourselfer can take it!!!
Here is where I got the SFx to compared to my 320 carry gun... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Owmb2puPsEQ&t=10s

For competition I decided to move onto the X5 Legion for the added weight. Sent the gun to The SIG Armorer for a comp trigger job. Thing is amazing, pulling at just under 2#...BUT...it's a lot more $$$! The SFx in my opinion is the best factory gun for the money out there, hands down!!!

Thanks for the input folks!
I bought a TP9 SFx yesterday, and due to very high call volumes was told it has been taking 24 hours or so for the NICS background check.
Hopefully I'll get a call later today, or tomorrow at the latest, so I can have it for the weekend.
Mine has a very nice, crisp trigger as expected, but is probably higher pull weight than I want for competition. This was not intended as a carry gun. It measured a very consistent 5lb 4oz on both a mechanical and a digital gauge. As it was the only one I found in the area I decided to buy it anyway given there are many options to lower that if I decide to do so. I was looking for the model including the red dot, but again that was not available. For now I will move the JPoint 4moa red dot from my Ruger P89 using the Canik #4 mounting plate. Recent improvements in red dot technology will also require some additional research before I decide what I want on the Canik permanently.
Before I do anything with the trigger I'll fire a few hundred rounds and see how it feels after that.
I will leave the slide open, as has been suggested, and will also fire a bunch with snap caps to get used to the gun as it is my first Canik, and also my first 9mm that is not a Ruger.
Thanks again for the input. Stay tuned for a range report once I can get there. :-)

24 hours for a NICS check? I thought it was all automated online now. At least my FFL just tippytaps some stuff into into his computer and it does magical things. I guess there are many more people buying guns now though.

Anyway, congrats. You'll love the SFX and there are plenty of mods to keep you busy.

Yes, it was "automated". He clicked some keys and off it went. No actual phone call like every other time. It's just the volume right now.
Got a call a couple of hours ago that the NICS came back so I'm all set. Will probably pick it up tomorrow morning and get to the range later tomorrow, or Sunday morning. I'm pretty excited about it. Haven't bought a gun in quite a while. Plenty of ammo on hand so I'm good to go.

Had mine measured at the gun range today. Three pulls averaged 4 10. Have a Champion Freedomsmith trigger and Springco reduced power spring kit. Have only shot between 300-400 rounds. Love the trigger and there is “maybe” a mm pre-travel! Have noticed a little bite in trigger though for some reason.

Attached is my target from today, which is my best so far. First four targets are 10yds standing with 15 rounds. The fifth target is seated from 10yds with butt of gun on on shelf with 18 rounds (now out of target ammo and not paying 50 cents per round for 115 FMJ!). Can’t see red fiber optic so shooting with black sights only. Also need to put on bigger strap since my support hand finds very little of the gun.

I’ll give that a FrankW.

On a separate note, just saw a post you had on FS trigger bite. Same thing is happening to me. Not sure what is causing it, but I did notice something weird when I installed the trigger. The slide stop lever hole and trigger were really tight against each other when I tried pushing the trigger into the correct spot. In the video I was watching to install it, looked like the guy didn’t have that issue. There was virtually no extra space or play between them as I tapped the pin thru them. I’m wondering if I accidentally bent the slide stop lever somehow. My trigger pull is 4 lbs 10 oz’s after the trigger and reduced power springs. Just wondering if it didn’t get lower due to a tight fit between trigger and slide stop lever hole area.

Nice shooting!
Here's my first target. 10 meters, two handed standing, with 5 different factory ammo loads. I was more concerned with testing ammo and putting the gun through it's paces, shooting like in bullseye timed and rapid stages. I do tend to shoot a little left with open sights. That goes away when a red dot is added so I will be moving a JPoint red dot from another gun to the Canik this weekend. I'll be interested in the Canik red dot someone mentioned when it becomes available before deciding on a permanent red dot.
