Seems like the question regarding night sights or replacement sights comes up quite a bit in the Facebook group. So, let's get an "official" night sight/replacement thread going here on the forum.

For me, I've settled on Night Fision. I do have a set of TruGlo Tritium Pro night sights on one of my Caniks, but I prefer the Night Fision. The only offering for TruGlo, at least for Canik are a white dot front. I prefer an orange or other bright color, especially with my aging eyes. I've tried both rear options from Night Fision and prefer the rear sight with the white circles around the tritium. I've also tried/have the yellow and orange front sights. The yellow looks almost white, especially in lower lighting conditions, so I prefer the orange.

Though Night Fision claims the sights are a direct replacement, I've not had much success co-witnessing a front Night Fision sight with the Warren Tactical rear. So, I've replaced all my rear sights when I replace the front. I don't necessarily need Night Sights on every gun, but I do find the sights easy to acquire so I do have a few sets. I've also put them on some of my CZ's and am really happy with them.

Here are the TruGlo Tritium Pro night sights I got from Century Arms. They are decent sights, and I find the front sight to be a little brighter than the Night Fision front sight in the dark. But again, I prefer a brighter front sight, along with the white circles around the tritium on the rear. I don't think I'll ever truly shoot a gun in complete darkness. The situation would have to be extreme, but I want to know exactly what I'm shooting at.

Thanks for posting this. I am reconsidering my nightstand gun strategy. It is currently a relatively stock Kimber 1911. I realize that I have neither night sights nor a flashlight option. So I am thinking that when the SFX Mod2 comes out, I will switch the Venom to the Mod2 and use the Mod1 as the nightstand option with both NF tritium and an Olight.

I'm trading 11 rds of .45 (extended mag) for 21 rds of 9mm, which I think is reasonable considering the improvements in self defense ammo over the years.

Night Fision is only sights I've put on my Canik's, I do have Trijicon HD's and Tru Glo's on some other guns. Fit and finish they're all pretty good I'd say the NF's seem the brightest followed by HD's and TG's.

Installation of NF's on my Elite the rear was pretty tight but I got it on w/o filing it I did use a decent pusher though. The NF's installed on my Glocks like butter glocks are always easy except my PD trade in 21 which had very old dim trijicons red loctited on... Some of my CZ's have required filing the sight to get them to fit.

Depending on your style preference and if you can wait til they have coupon you can usually get NF's for $90-105ish direct from NF with tritium in front and rear. Trijicon HD's run $115-130, TruGlo's usually 80-100(i did pay $60 once for Glock pair on Amazon). IMO best bang for the buck is the NF barring awesome sale on one of the others.

Pretty much my set up. I have a V2 in the nightstand with Night Fision and Olight. But, I also have been switching that out with my CZ P09 with Night Fision and Olight.

Don't know. But some manufacturers list the dimensions on their site, such as Night Fision.

NF on my Elite-S, though I have nothing to compare them to, personally, since they are the first night sights I've had on one of my guns.
Went with white ring on front, and the U-notch with just the vials on the rear. No issues with how they illuminate. I stayed with the U-notch because I really do like how firm and quickly I can sight in on target with it vs. a square notch.

Would it be fair to say you find the NF sights a bit easier to acquire in daylight or low light, while the TGs might be a bit better in total darkness?

I would say that's pretty close. Don't get me wrong, the NF in low/no light are pretty bright and easy to acquire. But from my experience, the TG front sight is a bit brighter in low/no light. Could just be my sample of one. But, both work great in the dark, while I find the NF easier to acquire under normal lighting conditions.

I swapped my SFx sights to the Tru-Glo (Tritium Pro). Love it!!

I couldn't see my red FO front post indoors or under canopy/shade outdoors - it might have well been a black front sight. In full sun the FO glowed like a cherry, but I almost never shot in those conditions. The white dot around the tritium is perfect. Easy to swap, pin punch on rear and pusher on front. Very happy camper.

Night Fision doesn't list the TP9V2 anywhere.
Makes me nervous dropping the cash on my first set.

Are the Dovetails on the TP9V2 the same as the newer models? SFX, Elite whatever?

Pretty sure the v2 uses the latest style sights, if your front is dovetailed then its the same as the elite and sfx.

Not same as SFx. Same as SA, SF, Elite, DA, etc. Also, the first V2's did not have a dovetail front sight. They had the older pinned front. As long as you have a dovetail, they will work.

I just created a new post in the modification section, but probably should have added it to this post. I just got around to installing Night Fision on one of my Elite Combat's. I generally use the orange front sight, but lately noticing I'm having a hard time seeing it in lower lighting conditions. Not low enough where the tritium glows, but low enough where I don't really see the orange. So, I decided to try something different and try a yellow front sight. I'm finding lately in lower lighting, I can pick up a white dot or lighter colored front dot better than the orange sights. It's probably just my aging eyes. LOL

Took the Elite Combat to the range today to make sure the sights were dialed in. As usual, the Night Fision are a great addition to a Canik.

How do you center them before you get to the range? Dial calipers?

I use a cheap set of calipers from Harbor Freight. I also put markings on the slide with pencil where center is. After installing them, I put my laser trainer bullet in the gun and shoot at reactive targets at the farthest distance in the house. I have a laser bore sighter, but the laser trainer is more fun. It's not an exact science, but works for me.

Yah, it's weird how it turned out like that in the photos. It's definitely not that bright, or greenish in person.
