New addition..

Post by runeight » Sat Mar 16, 2019 6:56 pm

Just picked this sweetheart up today. Firearm is spotless inside and out. TC 357 mag, no box, papers or rear sight. For $350.00 I can live without it.

Check the shine on the blueing. :-BD

Now if that thing was 380?.........I could probably hit the bulls eye at 10 yards with it.

This one has the more desirable 10 inch barrel. Going to change the handgrip, maybe the scope. Kind of diggin the scope though. ;-)

Will see.

Very nice and looks all original. Someone bought it and probably shot it a few times and then just kept it safe.
They are fun guImagens. I have killed many deer with mine.

Trying to find what it is, manufacture date. It’s a 357 where I read first year was 2016. Edit, saw same caliper as far back as 1980.

Is it an Encore, Contender or what? Want to order a Pachmeyer set. I’m guessing a G2 Contender.

Please help me..... :-?

Doing a lot of reading this morning and also sent an email verifying year of manufacture to TC Arms.

I believe this to be a Contender and not the G2 model. This firearm was someone’s Grandfather so it goes back many years. Best I can find is early 80’s. Will wait for reply.

Contender: Break open to cock hammer. (Mine)
G2 Contender: Could cock without breaking open.

Later models talk of a safety. Dang if I can find one. You cock, it’s ready. Very light trigger, someone adjusted this for sure. It’s short!

Pretty cool rig, I've considered picking up similar ones in the past, just don't think I'd end up shooting it enough once the newness wore off.

Same here but then I might really enjoy it. Not in it for much and should be an easy flip if I decide otherwise.

Thanks guys.

Doing even more reading on the TC line. The G1 Contender has a HBS (Hammer block safety) when pulling the hammer you can see it move away allowing gun to fire.

I’m even more convinced this is a gen1 Contender. Manufactured up to 2003 then came the G2. Encore started in 1998 which was a beefier Frame for high pressure cartridges.

The amount of barrels is mind boggleing. Don’t foresee purchasing any at this time and will shoot 38 Special in this one.

TC wanted some more pictures so I sent a few.

I did find the serial number build dates. Mine is 73640 which, according to this, would be Jan-June of 1977.

1974 27091 - 30100 30101 - 34500
1975 34501 - 38401 38402 - 47890
1976 47891 - 60670 60671 - 67875
>>1977 67876 - 74825<<74826 - 80398
1978 80399 - 91872 91873 - 108344

Will see.

Will see, waiting on them. I can only go buy what I have read. Five digit serial number does date way back. Reply from T/C carries more weight.

I agree, I can’t find one mark on it. None.
