The need to make the Big Brother..."SFX Elite Competition"...upgraded internal like the Combat, Salient Arms Mag Well and Barrel (non-threaded), and the Combat Trigger. MSRP...$999.98 :-BD

I'd be all over that!!! \:d/

Nice write up. I will be tempted to own this gun when it has the correct threads on the barrel for the US market.

if its anywhere near a $1000 they better at least change the way they do the rmr mount so you can keep you rear sights otherwise they wont be able to compete with competition in that price range.

Hopefully they are listening to customers. We know they have the capability, since there's pictures floating around of the METE model, which I've read was produced for the Turkish Navy. Not sure if that's true or not, but we know it exists. Hopefully new models released with retain the rear sight. Or, if more red dots like the SHIELD were being produced with the rear sight built in, that would be fine with me too. But yah, hopefully they will change things up a little and somehow make it easier to have a rear iron.

Id love to see an SFX with the rear irons maintained. Means I could stay with Canik instead getting say an M&P Core

Sorry guys, wouldn’t even consider one at that price especially a poly gun. Personally I think the Elite is overpriced.

I'm with everyone who won't buy an rmr cut gun w/o proper seperate rear sight cut. Also onboard with being a bit to high priced. I haven't really been pricing out the EC but I believe you're looking at $650ish after shipping and transfer fee? Then I'd have to immediately spend $90-100 on new sights since I'd want night sights on it.

Competition pistols don't interest me much, if Canik really wanted to make money they'd put out a subcompact.

And there have been some pretty nice prices lately on the Core. Plus, S&W rebates for veterans.

Why do they always put the MSRP in these articles, but fail to tell the readers what the street price is? Good article though, but it bothers me people will see the price tag and immediately thumb their nose at it.

I would purchase at least two single-stack (say, 7, 8, and 9-round magazines) of a miniaturized, thinner SF Elite.

Me I'd be in for a G26ish Elite, or something along the lines of a sig 365 or g43 Elite.

Glad to see Canik is getting some good reviews from major folks but if anything it will drive the price up.

Stopped by an Academy today and they had the Elite Combat so I picked one up for the first time. As reported earlier, they also have all guns trigger locked and you are not allowed to try the trigger. The trigger lock also affects your ability to judge the weight of the pistol since it is carrying a few extra ounces.

I did find out that the magwell sits right where my little finger would be, forcing it to grip the magazine. Even then, it wasn't particularly comfortable. I know that it is removable, but then you are paying for something that you don't need.

I also tried a DA for the first time. Couldn't test the weight of the DA trigger pull due to the trigger lock (arghh), but did notice that the slide release is different than the SFX (and nowhere near as comfortable). I know that Canik isn't going to retool, but the SFX slide release should be the minimum, and the Elite extended slide release is by far the best.

FWIW.
