Anybody have on of these or layed hands on one?

Post by LT USN (Ret.) » Thu Oct 03, 2019 8:02 pm

https://swampfoxoptics.com/tomahawk-series

With the military discount it drops down way below that cost. They also run specials on most holidays. I saw 20% off with free mount and shipping last 4th of July.

Shot an AR/PCC RO match at the range I work at, I sucked! I realized the Vortex Viper I put on my AR was getting washed out by the sunlight. I couldn't find the dot (or the target).

I can get the 1X4 with the cantilever mount for just under $250 including shipping. Video review are pretty good. Seems like a pretty good band-for-the-buck.

Thoughts?

Found a really long thread about Swampfox and there was a lot of comparison to PA 1X4's. Most of the comments from people who had bought a Swampfox and other more expensive glass liked the Swapfox more.
What did you think about the different reticles? Between the Guerrilla Dot BDC, Guerrilla Cross and MOA Spear Duplex, I'm drawn to the Guerrilla Cross.

OK, let's open this thread a little wider; who has a 1X4 or 1X6/24 scope on an AR and how do you like it for quick target pick up? How do you like it vs. a decent red dot?

I'm waffling between a Swampfox Tomahawk 1X6 and a Holosun HE510C-GR Elite. Purpose of either? Blasting targets and poppers or local, low-level comp. And either will work in a home defense scenario.

+1 on the Swampfox as you do not need to turn it on, it has etched glass.

I like the moa reticle.

I've got one of the pa 1x6 scopes on an AR, its more my long distance ar and I like it for that purpose shooting 200yds+ if I'm shooting at targets closer then that I prefer unmagnafied rds or my 2.5x pa rds for quicker target acquisition.

I've had extremely good experience with Nikon optics being a good value, this one included which is running about the same price as your swampfox and its also 4x24.

Seems similar in concept to the Millet DMS-2.

I have an even more old school scope. A Japanese made Pro-diamond 1.5 - 5x turkey scope. Early 3 gun scope before, low magnification “tactical” scopes were cool or common. No illumination, but some great Japanese glass, and the diamond is good for fast acquisition in any daylight situation.

I’ve run it for a while on my Marlin .30-30.
