TP9 Elite SC colors

Post by SouthernTP9 » Sun May 31, 2020 6:35 am

My buddy sent this to me yesterday. It's a patriot brown.... A WHAT.... yep, patriot brown TP9 Elite SC. I've seen the Blackout edition and I have the original tungsten, but this color was new to. So I have to ask... what factory colors have you seen out there?? How long before we have the Whiteout edition??

Oh. My.
I foresee myself spamming Academy with visits until I can find one of those.

As of right now it appears there is the Tungsten, Blackout, Bronze slide and Patriot Brown. Who knows what else is out there.

Son of a gun. I stopped by our local Academy for another reason and found these:

They weren't there a week ago when I checked the site for SC's.

Hey, to each their own, but what exactly is patriotic about brown?

Has anyone seen this or know when it will be available?

It’s from the official canik catalog..

I figure I'd hold out for the SC Executive but there has been no mention of it becoming available if ever.

I actually wanted the Tungsten, but all they had was the Blackout. I just wanted it to match my SFx, in reality the Blackout is a better choice because the point of concealed carry is to be concealed. Hard to be if you’re blinging red and blue. I can understand modding any non carry gun, but carry guns should be dark, simple, and reliable. So I’m glad I ended up with the Blackout. :).

I was actually told an interesting and different opinion. Not sure that I 100% agree but here it is. The idea is to have a CCW that is not just a black gun. Have something with color that makes it unique. If you are ever involved in a shooting or other situation witnesses might assume they saw a standard black handgun. However, when you pull out your sweet Canik with a teal grip, you have proof on your side. Besides, if you are exposing your CCW to the point where someone sees the tungsten slide and that gives away your weapon, I think you've already exposed just about everything anyways.

I must be a little Amish because I think all guns should be black. I'm just a traditional boring kind of guy

I stopped by my local Academy this afternoon, to see if they had the Patriot Brown Sub Elite, or at least find out more info.

Pickings were slim, with no Caniks in stock. I showed the guy SouthernTP9's photo and he told me they had one that had sold yesterday. He didn't know if it was an Academy exclusive either. He checked the only other area Academy stock for me, but they didn't have it either.

I'm gonna be watching for this one...

Well, that strategy paid off yesterday morning! I made another trip to my local Academy yesterday, getting there shortly after opening. They had three (3!) Canik pistols on the shelf, all the new Patriot Brown. A TP9SFx, One series Elite, and.... a single Sub Elite.

I had to wait my turn in line, but once I got my hands on it, gave it the 10-second look-over and said "I'll take it!". Gonna be 4th weekend before I get to break it in, I guess it's gonna be time to break into my limited stash of leftover WalMart NATO ammo.

I like the upgraded plated internals, and the luminous (GITD) front site was a unexpected surprise.

The Patriot Brown is a unique shade. Like a darker FDE, with extra olive. In certain light, it's looks like an OD, but in direct sunlight, it's definitely a share of brown.

My SC ran everything right out of the box. Probably due to the new RSA design.

... And I think I'm going to like this pistol! Got to shoot it over the July 4th weekend, and was very happy. I haven't done any precision target shooting yet, just shooting the steel plate, but it handled well, shot well, and cycled everything just fine! I was shooting cheap Wal Mart Federal 115gr. which it shot with no issues. Looking forward to getting some more in-depth break-in and accuracy testing done with this piece.

I installed the flush fit baseplate on the short mag, but would like to get a second so I can do a side-by-side comparison. Overall I have no issues shooting with the shorter flush mag.

It carries and conceals very well compared to my Taurus G2C, but I am able to shoot it much more accurately.

I really like the included holster for OWB carry, vs the unusable paddle holster shipped with my mid-2017 model SFx.

Local range and gun store had a Elite Combat in patriot brown, I been considering getting a Canik. Once I felt that trigger it was a done deal.

That's just the standard EC color isn't it? I think Patriot Brown is a little darker but I could be wrong. Anyways, congrats, you'll love it.

Honestly not sure as its my first Canik. I had held the coyote tan or desert tan one before, but this is def darker. FDE perhaps? To me it seems darker than other FDE pistols like the FN509. I'll try to get a photo with better light tomorrow, that lighting in the photo is weak.

I haven't seen any Patriot Brown Caniks outside of Academy. I asked, but the guy working at the counter didn't know if that was an Academy-exclusive color.

It's definitely darker than FDE, closer to an OD/brown mix.
