Canik Price Drops

Post by Janik » Sat Apr 27, 2019 11:01 pm

Someone posted this on the FB page and I figure it should be shared here.

"latest news from NRA annual meet, tp9sf now retail $279, regular elite $299. Both retail under $300 . Both ship with only one magazine !"

I was about to pull the trigger on another Elite, but I think I'll hold off and watch prices after this weekend. I've got enough Caniks, so the one magazine doesn't bother me at all. I'm sure there's a reason they are trying to move old inventory. Makes me wonder if all new models will be optic ready or something of that nature. Anyway, I thought I would share the good news that prices should be dropping quite a bit on some of the current Canik models.

I suspected this. Even if just the executive comes out it will disrupt pricing on everything due to feature and msrp being lower then the EC. Yes it has a few of the extras omitted but not enough to worry since that baseplate #1 was by far the most commonly used. Magazines are a nice commodity but easiest way to drop the price since they contract out that part anyway. The fact that they seem to be dropping the price nearly the exact amount of what we pay for one mag anyway tells me they are conscious of not gouging and even though they get lower price per mag cause of bulk they are keeping it simple. Either way this should be fun this summer to see how it all settles out. Come on elite compact....I am rooting for you

Damn, I just bought my wife a TP9sf for $319. Should I have waited?

That’s still well worth the price of admission. Nearly every TP9 variation is a better value then its tag. The price drops are just icing on the cake

I wouldn't stress it, it's only a $20 difference. But it wouldn't hurt to take advantage and get another when the price drops.

Yeah, these price drops create a dilemma...I want to support the LGS and keep him in business, but he has several Caniks in the case at $380 - $500 because he bought them months ago...How can I pay him $380 for the SF, when they are $319 online? His SFx is well north of $400, and they are dropping like a stone as we all see.
He did come close to the online price for my first SAR 9 (he had it for $340 and I showed him that they were $260 online...He gave me a $295 price and I saved shipping and bought from him). He mumbled something about sending the his current stock SAR 9 back and ordering a new one for me at the lower price, but I don't think he did that...maybe he did...? Either way, he is not happy having to match and flex with online pricing, and I don't want to be that @$$#ole customer he dreads to see.

It really is a dilemma. I try to support my LGS, but they can't come close to online prices. I paid almost $200 less online for my CZ P09 than what they were selling it for. They couldn't believe what I paid for it, as they said it was below their cost. Even prices on used guns are sometimes higher than what I can buy new online. The internet has really changed many industries and caused a lot of brick and mortar stores to close. In the end, it's my money and I will take advantage of deals and save money. If we're only talking a $50 difference or so, I'll support my LGS. But when I can save a lot of money by buying online, I'll go ahead and do it. I really want to support my LGS whenever I can, but I'm by no means wealthy, and have to spend wisely.

I played a different game to buy my Elite a year or so back. LGS had an Elite in the case for $450 or so, yet they were online for much less...I told him to order me an Elite S because I wanted the safety, and his in the case was the standard w/no safety. I got my Elite S for ~$400, even though I am ambivalent to the safety. I just won't use it.

Agree. I usually only buy trade ins or customers who want to sell and I work there! Order all my stuff online including ammunition. I understand they need to make a profit if you want to stay in business but cheaper is always better.

Sounds like they are slimming down the packaging for the Caniks, and they will have minimal accessories. But, it sounds like they are improving the internals, so I guess they have to cut cost somewhere. I may have to buy a couple more of the Caniks currently on the market, before they change the packaging and remove the accessories.

Chuck the holster and the cleaning rod, etc. Give me two mags and a hard case.

Looks like the new packaging won't include a holster or cleaning kit. I could be wrong, but it's looking like that's part of the slimming down.

Honestly I think if they gave the people 3 mags and dropped the holster there would be much happiness

I picked up a TP9SF today for $302.99 with shipping not including the FFL transfer fee when it arrives. Hard to beat that price.

I got an ad/email from Century advertising the new Canik One versions.
TP9SF MSRP is 299 and Elite is 324.
Gun, backstaps and one mag!
Retail should be less!

(*) Buy a couple of boxes of 124 gr. WWB NATO to break in the stiff RSA. Cheap, and shoots great in the Canik! (*)

I have 2 Elites. This new pricing on the just the pistol is very attractive. On the other hand if you want to sell or trade I feel that we just lost value on the ones we own.
