Factory Holster Retention Release TP9SFx

Post by easy10 » Tue Mar 19, 2019 6:49 pm

Ran into a guy that explained why the retention release was on the inside, between the holster and paddle. It is safer. If the retention release was on the outside and released with you index finger, you are more likely to draw and you finger lands on the trigger. You are supposed to flat finger a retention release but most don't. With it on the inside, it forces you to use your thumb.

Looking at and playing with it, looks to me that it is a passive retention device that you “pull through”, and does not require being released in any manner. At least that appears to be the case on the current production holster I received.

I thought you just applied inward pressure while drawing, and it eases out. Haven't messed with it much being a lefty.

Yeah, it's just a passive retention. Like Noshoot said.

(*) Buy a couple of boxes of 124 gr. WWB NATO to break in the stiff RSA. Cheap, and shoots great in the Canik! (*)
