High round count Caniks?

Post by Slater » Sat Feb 09, 2019 8:26 pm

For those of you that have shot a decent amount of rounds, how is the Canik holding up for overall wear and tear?

I'm sure some guys who shoot match's with Caniks have me well beat, but have 10k through my SA all original internals still. Normal wear in all the usual areas nothing excessive.

Beware of Dragons. For you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

3000 plus rounds through my TP9SF Elite. No discernable change since break-in. Good as ever. About half of them NATO spec.

It will be interesting to see what parts and integrated pieces will fail prematurely, say before 50,000 rounds. I doubt most of us will ever find out, with the exception of wear items like firing pins and springs.
Minor parts cost a few dollars and can be replaced.
I'm more concerned about integrated pieces that can't be fixed like frame rail tabs.

I have two SFx's one with a reflex red dot (Nikon Spur) and one with open sights, got tired of taking the red dot off and on so bought another one to shoot IPDA with at our local club, this one I have changed the trigger on (Fat Daddy) and changed the sights and I shoot this one a lot, practicing and in the monthly matches for about 10 months, I'm guessing I've got around 3,000 rounds through it and haven't had one problem except I tried some powder puff rounds that I loaded for my wife to try and had a few that didn't eject properly plus possibly limp wristing. But that's all.

My SF has about 4500 to 5000 rounds through it. My Elite has about 2500 to 3000 rounds through it. They both function flawlessly.

How did you mount the Nikon P-Tactical Spur to your TP9SFx? I'm very interested in getting one for mine. Thanks!

I have too many guns to believe any reach 50K rounds until far into the future. That said, if I do, I will have a hard time putting much money into a gun that was $300 - $400 fifty thousand rounds and many years ago...

I have well over 15k through my favorite SF and it is working fine. I will say the magazines springs are getting weak. I have to find replacement springs soon. It has a lot of dings and is suffering from holster wear, bear metal is showing in several spots on the gun, but all in all it is working well.

At less than 6000 rounds my TP9V2 pretty much died. See my post "My TP9V2 just died".

Bought my TP9SFx in April, 2019. Last match I broke the 5,000 round count. So far it's been very reliable.
