Got My First Canik

Post by Babbalou1956 » Thu Jul 30, 2020 4:31 pm

Hello, newbie here. I've been following Caniks awhile. I needed a 9mm range gun. I've got carry guns, house guns, plinkers & a .22 rifle but I don't have a 9mm range gun. Looked for weeks & Caniks are sold out everywhere. At least the TP9SF One Series. Yesterday I found one 43 miles away, paid for it, printed the receipt & off I went. I can't shoot it for a few weeks because my eyes are healing from cataract surgery & they tore my left eye inserting the lens so may be another month before I can see well enough to shoot. Right eye is 20/20. Anyway I put the other grip insert on & love the feel. Take up had some creep but I smoothed most of that out dry firing with a snap cap. Actually just pulling to the wall & releasing a few hundred times. Much smoother now on take up. Break has no creep or sponginess. VERY happy with the break & short reset. Sights are nice but I may black out the white dot on front. I'm left-handed so I'm about 2 hours into the project of swapping the magazine release. Actually I'm about to take it to a gunsmith because I don't see how I'm going to get that clip in the holes. It's been on the floor 20-30 times so far. Looks so easy. It's not. "If it ain't broke don't fix it." Still learning that one.

Search for zeda's post on that dang spring.

A bent needlenose pliers is worth the few bucks just for that spring. Takes only a minute with one.

Welcome to the forum. I had Cataract surgery also, last November. Mine went well, sorry to hear you had problems. Lots of info here, and be sure and ask any question you might have. All the best in your recovery!!
