Hello from NC

Post by Tailwalker » Sat May 25, 2019 10:42 am

Hello, from eastern NC. First time Canik owner, and first time handgun owner. Grew up shooting competitively, however only with rifles. Own a few AR ‘pistol’ builds and expanding into this realm...couldn’t pass up that $250 entry level SF from Big Daddy.

Looking forward to picking up some knowledge.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the SF. It's a solid pistol and built to NATO spec, so it'll last you years and years. Report back what you think once you put some rounds down range.

Welcome from a fellow N.C. resident. That may just be "the first" Canik you bought,I'll bet there will be more.It happened to me,first an Elite, then a DA,and followed by a SFX..

Welcome aboard the forum. Canik's are a little like Tribbles, little suckers just seem to multiple in you safe when the door is closed.

That only happens when you feed them too much 9mm grain.

Lol. I’ll have to see how I like the striker fire. I was set on the CZ p07/09, but with the BDU sale, this was a no brainer. Half the cost, and the Canik reviewed quite well from all I’ve watched and read.

I plan on just a few upgrades for this one, if they’re available. Keeping it mild...a fun shooter, but still good for home defense. As I said, not too familiar with handguns as opposed to rifles. It’ll take me a bit, but I’m looking forward to learning and getting into the swing of things.

Love my Caniks but don't think you would regret getting a p07 or p09 i love mine. Only upgrades for Canik I'd really suggest are night sights, if you want to tinker with the trigger too cool but not something I think is needed.

I was thinking of sights/optic, and a compensator for fun shooting. I hear the trigger is already quite nice, but I’m not opposed to tinkering. I haven’t seen many using comps, so I’m guessing there are none specific to the platform. Perhaps a universal...

My SA is pretty soft shooting as it is don't think a comp would make much difference maybe if shooting in competition it'll shave a hundredth of a second off the time.

Thanks. I’m more concerned with shooting flat and accurate, with quick sight acquisition. This is an entry level gun, but I’d like to have some fun with it. Just like my cars, nothing stays stock 🤣🤣
