Hello from Indiana

Post by pkk » Fri Jan 25, 2019 9:06 am

I bought my first Canik a couple years ago. It was a full size TP9SF in that terrible "sand" color. The newer models have the nicer and darker FDE. I loved it though (and I'm a Glock guy). The trigger was awesome. It shot very well and felt perfect in my hand. My only complaint was it was too large for EDC and I hated the color. Sooooo, I sold it. Didn't think a lot about it until I went to my local gun store to buy a CZ P-10C. They call it the "Glock killer" as you all know. But then the gun store guy asked me if I still had my Canik. I said, no, and told him why. He pulled out the "Elite" and handed it to me. That was it, it was coming home with me. Why? My former (yes former) EDC is a G19. I like it but its a tad small for my hand. my pinky barely hits the bottom of the mag. But the Elite is a tad bigger and perfect for my hand. I added some +2 mag extensions and now it fits my hand like a full size but carries like a compact, plus I can fit 18+1. For the money, this might very well be the best handgun in the market today. In my opinion, its better than my Glocks. I can make my Glocks perform like the Canik, but I'd have to spend extra to do it. So, for the money . . . . yeah.

But here is a question: Do they have Elite mags with the +2 extensions already on them? Its a little pricey to retrofit regular mags.

Welcome to the club........

I don't know if they make mags with ext already on them.......but- my 18 round DA mags fit and lock up in my Elite. Whether they function or not I do not know. Someone may have already tried this?perhaps they willl speak up?
If they do work?- then all you would need would be a poly spacer to fill in the gap.

Welcome to the forum. Here's a link to the Elite mags with +2. Might also dig around and see if they are cheaper somewhere else, but these are decently priced. https://www.preppergunshop.com/canik-tp ... azine-17rd

Thanks for the link! That's not a bad price really. It costs less than retrofitting 15rd mags anyway.

It's the same size as the Elite, with a few extra bells and whistles.

Thanks everyone! I'm in West Lafayette. I'm a Floridian, but I've been in WL for nearly 17 years, I guess that makes me a Hoosier.

I wondered about that, It looked like an Elite in size, but wasnt sure. At over 6 bills there must be more than a few bells and whistles.
