EDC Preference

Post by GlennSFX » Wed Jan 02, 2019 2:27 pm

So how do you EDC, and what brand holster do you use?

I've always been an IBW guy. For me it's always been in the 5 o'clock position, as that is the most comfortable for me. My son is a AIWB guy and has been trying to get me to try it and give it some time. Unfortunately he now living in NC and I don't have the opportunity to carry his rig. I'm not really sure I want to dump $80 plus $$ on something that might just sit in a drawer.

I've always been a big fan of the "MaxTuck" White Hat Holsters...https://www.whitehatholsters.com/maxtuc ... re-series/
I have a SMC Comp 2.0 holster for the SFX and just ordered one for the Combat for IDPA use.

:-? ...I see SMC has a nice looking AIWB unit.

I don't always carry the same gun or use the same method all the time so it varies between pocket, IWB, and AIWB. I run several different brand holsters as well, generally prefer hybrid or leather.

I use a smart carry holster. It is pouch in front between shirt and pants. I can wear it with anything from basketball shorts to a tux.

Aliengear Shapeshift IWB, but sometimes OWB and OWB paddle if I'm heading to the range...

Probably 75% is OWB- depending on which gun- it will be with either a UBG Regulator, or a MDJ Hybrid.
Maybe 15% is IWB in either a Clinger or Pyntek kydex.
Maybe 10% pocket either naked or in an Uncle Mikes.

Depends on the season, and the clothing...or if I am visiting the nudist camp or not. Those days, I shy away from the full size pistols. They make me walk funny.

My vote was pocket; LCR .38 Special in a self-built leather pocket holster.

Occasionally, OWB, with a S&W Shield, in a Safariland GLS slim.

IWB does NOT work for me.

OWB, switch between regular and crossdraw depending on which firearm that day.

My real EDC is a Kershaw Freefall, Gerber Dime, Streamlight Protac 2AA, 2pr nitrile gloves, RATS tq, phone, keys, wallet, pen, notepad.... Oh, and a CPR face shield.

I know. Not the question, but that's what I've got going to, coming from, or hanging out at work. I should probably work on getting a job someplace more permissive....

After work, or quick errands, I clip on my XDS in a Concealment Express at AIWB, about 10:30-11:00. Days off or longer excursions: Elite in a SMC, also AIWB. I use a foam wedge on both, and can hide either one under an XL t-shirt from Lima Charlie USA. There's usually a 2nd mag at 1:00, too.

My EDC is a Ruger LC9s. I have an Alien Gear IWB holster, but with a few extra pounds around the waist it has become uncomfortable, so I have opted for a Fobus OWB paddle holster and a long shirt. I do have a BELT CLIP attached to the LC9s where I will pocket carry and mid back carry.(WITH SAFETY ON)

I generally carry IWB at about the 7 o'clock position, since I'm a lefty. I've tried AIWB and found it to be uncomfortable, especially when sitting. I use a kydex holster that I purchased from one of the vendors in the FB group, but he's since disappeared. For OWB in the winter months, I use a SMC holster and carry at the 9 o'clock position.

I carried a long time 4 o'clock, sometimes made my hip hurt, so I started carrying appendix, takes some getting used to, most make the mistake of tightening up your belt too much, leave it good and loose, standing and walking, wear it low, under the muffintop, as you sit down, give it a tug upwards over the muffintop, all's well!
I am 6'1" 185 lbs, but still have a bit of a belly, the EC9S carries easily, but my fat M&P9c requires more juggling!
At 4 o'clock, driving , almost impossible to get at it, appendix, it's right there!

Generally IWB at about 4 oclock with a StealthGear holster. I rotate between a Ruger SR9c and SA XD Mod 2 subcompact. Will slide the holster towards the front when driving or sometimes just remove it depending upon how long I'm on the road.

During the summer I frequently pocket carry (in holster) my Ruger LCPII depending upon what I'm wearing and where I will be.

I love my belly band holster you have a lot of different carry positions with one. I carry my elite most of the time but my tp9sa is right at home in it also
