da owb kydex holster

Post by BiFocals48 » Mon Sep 09, 2019 6:47 pm

Still new here. Sorry if this is redundant, I have spent days searching for info before posting. :-(

I am looking for a good Kydex OWB holster and mag carrier for my da. Adjustable tension, cant, J-hooks, sweat guard. Cant could be already set butt forward, but not straight up. I normally wear (under a $10 e-bay vest) only when leaving the house & would like one that would "sit" nice when driving. Current rig is iwb, crossdraw & much smaller (yea, I know that is wrong) easy reach when in the car. I don't think the da would be too comfortable iwb + I am a widower & shrink all my pants.

Xpert OWB Holster looks nice, maybe a little pricey, but bottom width looks bulky. https://redxgear.com/collections/owb-ho ... -waistband
I do really like RawDog Tactical, The Guardian, but they only make for the sa & sf . https://www.rawdogtactical.com/the-guardian/ anyone know where I could get J-hooks for this one?

Lots out there for the sa, sf, sfx. Will my da fit properly in any of these?

I have the RedX for my DA. Can't speak on the other brand since I have no experience with them. I usually stick to RedX or Smoky Mountain Concealment. I definitely wouldn't try to IWB the DA. It's a bit too big for me. I prefer OWB when I carry it. I have other guns for IWB.

Look here- http://mdjcustomholsters.com/canik/

on the bottom row, left. Very good holsters and less that $40!....I have 4 of this same model for different guns.

This is what I carry my DA in.

FWIW, my DA fits in my Elite holster pretty snugly, which is a Clinger Ultra-Conceal OWB. Clingers holsters can be converted to IWB, or even another holster type with swapping parts. I know it doesn't have J-hooks, but figured I'd link you anyway in case you haven't seen it.
They do make model specific for the SA and SF, so Janik may be able to confirm if the DA would be an equal fit?

Good luck! :)

Thanks! Good info so far. That's the info I am really looking for, will the da properly fit in a sa, sf or sfx holster?
Keep it coming!

I have 5 of these holsters. 2 for my Caniks, TP9SF and TP9SFx. 3 for my SAR K2, B6 and B6C.
Great holsters. https://tacticalmeasure.com/collections ... 8423105357

Thanks. I have one of these coming. https://bluestarholsters.com/outside-the-waistband/ They told me that I can re-drill & add cant if I want & still warranted! Saw on another thread that a cz-75 mag pouch works, ordered one of them also.
Will post my impressions after I receive them.

The tacticalmeasure may be one I look at for my Elite, thanks for posting that link. I like the Clinger Ultra Conceal I have now, but the rear loop (on it's own screw mount) always swings, and eventually gets real loose when sliding onto my belt, or removing from the belt. I have applied clear nail polish to the rear fastener a couple of times, but I have to repeat the drill too often now that I am thinking - new holster. The Cloak Slide I have for my Beretta APX Compact is great. Simple, two closed wing belt loops, and really stays tucked nicely to my waist. The simplicity of two belt loops appeals to me. Talking all OWB here, of course.

Mag carrier - I have purchased a couple of mag carriers from BareArms. Clips over the 1.5" belt very snugly, and mags fit in snug with no wobble. I wear them at my 1 o'clock position and find them easy to to draw from. Also, only $25 bucks!
