Best of luck!

Don't be shy about asking questions. My first match I was the same way (but the porn star never showed). Shooters are always happy to help and if you're not sure about something, ASK!

Do you know the difference between Comstock and Virginia rules? I didn't know the first time, but I asked when they said it.

What kind of match is it?

You are going to have so much fun! You'll meet friends you will have for years. Local guys that you can talk to and ask questions. So excited for you! As for me, I'm kind of a nervous guy, after 30+ years that ol' porn star just keeps hanging around.

Yeah, most of my shooting buddies tell me "If I'm ever a hostage please don't rescue me.

So just finished and I had a blast! It was an outlaw match that they were trying out for something with border patrol. Great guys, and learned lots of cool stuff and didn’t get last on the squad :-BD will post pics and score card later today.

Thanks for all y’alls help and advice. I never woulda tried this had it not been for this group!

I thought it was gonna be IDPA (which is normally what they do there) but they called it outlaw?? and it was a test run for the stages for border patrol comp or something like that.

Always a relief to get that first match under your belt. :-BD
The outlaw matches are fun as you can run it either IDPA or USPSA. You have more freedom to shoot it as you see best.

Glad to hear you had fun and that is the most important part to me.

In your stage three picture, there are a lot of "no shoots". IMO, don't be afraid to aim for a "C" hit. A "C" hit is much better than a no shoot.

So, you hooked?

Absolutely hooked! Stage 3 is the one that I shot low and went through the no shoot and the threat. What’s a “C” hit?

Great Job on reporting TT!

I think what LT USN is pointing out that most new shooters will go for a more difficult "A" (alpha) target hit and end up missing the target altogether, rather than aiming for an easier "C" (charlie) shot. That was my biggest barrier to higher scores. I came from a target shooting background where I could spend as much time As I needed to get a great 10 shot, but in active shooting where speed and accuracy are just as important, making sue that you aim for the best angle available is better than going for the most points.

Ex military bullseye shooter here USA Gold Team Army
Then one day we shot a duel match no more bullseye afterwards none that did it, then did IDPA and IPSC and never looked back IDPA changed so much most all I know dropped it totally clubs also, way to many dumb rules compared to the rest, a real money making venture for the founders. I admit when I started that I did like it but the more it changed we saw how much better the others were. Now if we could just get this mud to dry up! for Sat.
