SFx finish

Post by Merkerken97 » Wed Jul 10, 2019 8:51 pm

Has anyone else had any issue with the finish on their SFx chipping off?
I’ve only shot 100 rounds down range and when I cleaned my gun afterward I had a chip on the lower left side of the slide. Just wondering if anyone else has had problems and if so, what is the best option for fixing it. Or just leave it be?

Leave it. Caniks are great guns, but there cerakote, not so much. Glad to see the new One Series Caniks have a nitride finish. Anyway, all my Caniks have chips in them, and it seems to be the trend. I haven't purchased a One Series yet, but I expect the finish to hold up better.

I’ll post a picture tomorrow. It’s not a huge chip just kinda aggravating that it’s brand new and already chipped

My SFX is wearing fast as well. Doesn't stand up to any kind of holster use without rubbing off. As long as it still goes bang I'm good.

That's why I'm kinda aggravated with it. If it was holster wear I'd understand more.

My guess is they must not have gotten the metal oil free before they coated the slide. I'm new to these things so idk. Shoots like a dream though really want to get a black one to carry off duty and leave the tan for competition

Mine has been holding up really well and I have drawn it a bunch from a kydex holster. I hope maybe I got one with a good finish!

Hmm. My SFX FDE finish is holding up very well. I have drawn it hundreds of times in 3gun matches. I am using a Safariland 578 type Large/Long holster which probably helps. It is an adjustable holster with retention and allows the pistol to drop in without much contact. I highly recommend this holster for action pistol sports. It is a bargain, too, at less than $50.
