Southern Border - What a Mess

Post by Janik » Tue Nov 27, 2018 8:42 am

What a mess at our southern border. I'm glad the border patrol has the ability to defend themselves. Pisses me off that people are trying to rush our border and disrespect our sovereignty. If Killary was in charge, she would of let them all come in and given them 3 hots and a cot. I'm all for legal immigration, but waving a foreign country's flag, disrespecting the American flag and trying to rush our border is b.s. Thankfully our president isn't binding law enforcement hands and allowing our border to be defended. Hopefully this nonsense will come to a quick end as they see we are not going to allow lawlessness at our southern border. Come here legally, or don't come here at all. As for the Liberals that want them all here, let's house the illegals in their own homes and see how that works out for them.

I try and use this analogy on leftists.

Hi! By virtue of sitting on your lawn, I am now a member of your family. You must now let me live in your house, feed me, provide medical care and best of all, all of my family (in Mexico or Costa Rica or wherever) is also now part of your family and can live off of you as well as soon as they get here. Even better than that, you will need to take care of all of my children and all of their children forever.

Now, how soon will they want to build a fence around their house?

Socialism (regardless of what name you pin to it) is bad for any nation.
I think far too many Americans have their heads stuck so far up their butts that they can not hear the warnings. We are headed for turbulent times. I just hope we don't crash....we are definitely on a dangerous road....and the wrong folks trying to grab the steering wheel.

Buckle up America.

I so agree with the previous quotes. I saw one of the liberal news stories about us gassing children on the border while Melania decorates her Christmas tree. That just angers me and I try not to get riled up about it all. I didn't see any kids in the pictures and if there was they learned a lesson. The US army gassed me. It wasn't a pleasant experience, but the effects only last a few minutes. These Socialists want an open door for all of them just to walk in US and jump into the welfare
plan. I haven't seen any of the rich liberals wanting to take these people in. Whatever Trump does they go extreme opposite no matter how wrong or ludicrous. It's hard for me to imagine what the future holds. We must all vote to keep our country strong.

I'm familiar with CS Gas too. According to a person on Fox News this morning, the tear gas they were using is weak, and certified safe for children. So they aren't even using anything dangerous. But of course, Liberals will spin it however they can to make our President look bad. Never mind the fact that our BP and Soldiers are being assaulted, and people are trying to rush into our country. I hope the BP can continue to resist this invasion and not have to cave in to Liberal pressure. 2020 is going to be very interesting, let's hope we don't lose all the ground we have gained.

All the government has to do is ask us to protect it.

No political advantage to us.

So I live in El Paso, birth place of Beto O'Rourke. El Paso has a fence, and it works fairly well. Beto forgot to mention that on the campaign trail. I work and live a few miles from the border. I'm local PD and see CBP all the time, though I rarely work directly with them. We aren't a sanctuary city, but PD doesn't enforce immigration law (no more than they enforce Texas laws). Sometimes they will pull over a drunk driver or get in a wreck and I'll go out and help them out where I have jurisdiction.

I go over to Juarez occasionally too. There are lots of good people in Mexico, trying to better their lives through hard work. My wife is also a legal immigrant (from Peru) and it has been no small hassle getting and keeping her here legally. When we had to update her 2-year visa to a 10-year one, I had to pay about an $800 fee. And instead of giving us the new visa, they just extended the old for another year. By the time they processed to form, her Peruvian passport had expired and they stopped working on it until she could travel to Houston and renew it at the consulate.

The thing that I really don't like about these caravans, at least the way I perceive them from watching the news, is the mentality that they are going to come to our country and force their will upon us. They will no longer be ignored... by a country they don't belong to and a system they didn't help build. And even though they are coming from extreme poverty (Guatemala is basically Mexico's Mexico), we owe them nothing as a nation. Everyone who has ever done charity work (and I do charity work on a regular basis through my church) has dealt with people who view what they receive as a right and not a gift. That is the mentality of the people who are rushing the borders, or trying to sneak in illegally.

Texas Minute Men are helping the BP. It would be a great thing if citizens by the thousands united and marched to the southern border and told the "caravan" to get the hell back home. They whine that their countries are bad. My god! 7,000 people, mostly men, march here! March on your own country. Build an army! Sheep.

First and foremost, thank you for serving your community in a law enforcement capacity. Secondly, thank you for some insight how the legal immigration process works, and the many hurdles a person has to jump.

As irritating as it is to see people march on our border, I also blame the U.S. and it's past administrations for not doing anything to reform the system and pass better legislation. It seems like we've incentivized illegal immigration, and I can't blame foreigners for wanting free stuff. Not that I want our country full of illegals living off the system, but I can understand the desire to receive benefits for free. I really hope this is a wake up call for our representatives, and they will take action and repair a very dysfunctional system. As for the caravan, I don't feel bad at all for using tear gas. Our law enforcement and military should not endure any form of assault, and I'm glad they are able to take measures to disperse and deter the crowds so it doesn't go to far. I'm also glad to see, according to news reports anyway, that Mexico is deporting those who attempt to rush our border and get past the barricades.

As stated in my signature. We are already in a civil war we just haven’t pulled out the guns. Yet.

Sad, very sad State in this Country. The people that want to be here legally are stonewalled while the illegals are given everything as soon as they make it across the border.

With Liberal politics, Liberal news, Liberal newspapers and Liberal teachings in grade school thru College it won’t get better. Brainwash the people into getting what we want. Doesn’t have to make sense. Doesn’t have to work, just keep throwing money at it. (Liberal thinking)

Watch what the House does in the next couple of years on imagration reform. It won’t benefit the people who are jumping through hoops to be come legal citizens. Entitlements for everyone coming and already here.

A great analogy, I never saw that one before.

Thanks for your take on things and for going through the hassles of staying legal. The huge distinction of legal vs illegal immigration is willfully mischaracterized by Dems and the MSM. I am all for increased legal immigration, but not randomly as is currently practiced, but chiefly (but not exclusively) on merit. We need a mixed of skilled immigrants (75%?) and also some random immigrants (25%?). All should be committed to being Americans, not La Raza or any other hyphenated idenity politics based group.

Currently, this is impossible as it will be blocked by the left, but one can hope.

It would also help a great deal if the Millennials would get married and have a lot more kids. We are following Japan and Western Europe into a demographic death spiral.

Thanks for the kind words,

Let me say that the legal immigration system is a mess. It is slow, documents constantly get lost, any mistake on a form can add months on to the wait time, and even under ideal circumstances it can take 10-12 months for a visa to be approved. I mailed off at least 4-5 marriage certificates and 3 birth certificates (my birth certificate), which added months to the process. And even after that, I still had to mail the original marriage certificate to Peru so my wife could use it at the consulate there.

My personal thoughts on immigration is that direct family (spouses and adopted children) of US citizens should come first, which is the way it currently is. And, there is no quota on their numbers. After that I think we should make generous exception for school visas, and people with job skills that are needed here. But after that, who in this country benefits from allowing in people who have no appropriate job skills and don't speak the language? Your country sucks? I believe you. But the US can't fix the worlds problems by accepting immigrants. People need to band together and fix their own problems where they live. There is no other solution to the worlds problems.

The progressives in this country don't care about the problems of the world any more than they care about a "person of color" that doesn't belong to their party. In fact, I don't even like that term (hence the quotes) because it builds upon the notion that people with no common background are suddenly related by not being white. Progressives just see a way of changing this country politically and assuming that these newcomers will follow the instructions of the party that wanted them in.
