ncjw wrote: Wed Jun 10, 2020 7:57 am So I went to Target Sports and bought a case of 124gr Norma Range. I've never seen it before, anyone here use it? Thoughts?
I bought 2k rounds of Norma 115gr about a month ago and it works, but it does seem to be dirtier than what I am used to and it smokes quite a bit out of my sfx. I probably won't buy anymore unless it's a really good sale.
Probably no dirtier then the Fed aluminum he was going to buy, I've shot that stuff before and its dirty.

Checked Target USA this morning and they had 147gr Lawman or Fed for $300/case.

A case of blasting ammo now cost more than one of my Caniks (an SF for $275). Ridiculous.

Nevertheless, they sold out of more than 50,000 rounds in less than an hour.

(Come to think of it, a case of brass Grendel ammo has always cost more than one of my Grendel rifles. What a maroon.)

Average seems to be around .25c per round.. some a little less, some a little more... What's driving me batshit crazy is the individuals trying to sell 9mm for 50 cents and more per round.. AND GETTING IT.... To many new gun owners getting a new gun but can't find ammunition for it so they don't know how to go online and find it...

Believe it or not, sometimes if you get to Academy right when they open they will have stocked a few boxes overnight... They limit your purchase, but who cares....I've gone to the one close to me several times and grabbed their limit (5 boxes) a couple of times...

Reload!!! I started reloading right after this beer flu started, and I love it. Hasn’t saved me any money, but I can shoot a helluva lot more for the same price. Plus, I work evenings, and when I get home about 1am, I love sitting at the press and loading up a couple hundred rounds, and know when I get up I can go to the range. I had vacation a couple weeks ago, and since everything was closed down I loaded a couple thousand rounds of 9mm and 45. I filled a couple 50 cal ammo cans up and put them in the back of the closet, just to have a good supply of plinking ammo.

As of this SECOND, Target USA has 147 Lawman for $330/case (99+ cases showing in stock).

EDIT (10:55AM EDT): And.....they're gone.

So in 45 minutes, Target moved in excess of 100,000 rounds of 147 gr 9mm.

Looking at it another way, in 45 minutes either Speer or Target (or split) made about $15K MORE than they did six months ago for the exact same ammo.

Imagine what will happen if Biden gets elected...

I said "second" because 30+ cases in stock of other 9mm that I tried to order today sold out between when I put them in my cart and checked out (and all of my info is on file there, so we are talking less than two minutes or so.)

Also, Midway had 500 rd cases of 124 NATO in stock, limit one, as of a second ago.

This is ridiculous.

The prices aren't going down this year and the availability isn’t Going up. We have an election in November and that’s close.

Ok so you guys got me thinking.Roughly what would it cost me to start reloading my own 9mm ammo?A ballpark figure on the press, brass, powder, bullets, etc whatever I would need to load a cartridge.Thinking it might be easier to buy the components of a bullet rather than the cartridge itself.

Holy s**t!

Target USA just moved over a hundred cases of Sig 90 gr +P frangible training ammo at $480/case in an hour or so!

Because, you know everyone is dying to get 90 gr +P frangible (I never even heard of it before...)

To all of you newly minted reloaders, good luck getting primers...

Wow.

Target USA now has their own brand of 124gr 9mm! For $18/50. I am guessing that a name brand guy can't charge more than say - $15/box due to retail laws or something so they simply put it in generic boxes with the TSU brand and jack up the price.

Fascinating marketing going on here.

I know this will only apply to a few of you guys, but if you're in the DFW area I found some 115gr at my range for $240/case. It's not the best, but every other place I've been to has been sold out and I haven't found it that price online. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, IDK... Anyway, if this post helps the range is Shoot Point Blank in Arlington, they also had a couple of nice Caniks in there for sale.

We now have a Shoot Point Blank is San Antonio. Nice place, but they charge for targets and eys/ears if you don't have them. At least you get to keep the glasses...

I just bring all of that stuff with me. The one here seems to be pretty reasonable on their prices, and they let you bring your own targets. the staff is pretty cool too. The other range down the road from me makes you use their targets, and they aren't cheap. So I guess you just gotta pick your battles. No complaints here though, just glad I have a place where I can go shoot.

i only go to one range, as it already cost me $350 for 1 year. but i can go 7 days a week, and either days or nights. gun rentals are $10.

if i rent a gun (and i do, to try it before i buy it) they want you to buy thier ammo....however, with the ammo shortage, i have taken NEW ammo, not RELOADED ammo, so they allow me to use my new stuff.

i buy thier targets, at $1.25 each, which to me, is reasonable. many times, i do take walamrt paper plates to practice with, then use thier targets.

all in all, i have to say that it would be great of all ranges were as flexible to allow us to use what we can.

i buy my targets as yet another way to "support" the range, even if it is a small cost, that probably doesn't add up to peanuts in actual monetary support..

i'd hate for the range to fold up and be gone.

there are other ranges i can go to, but those cost more for memberships, and some, "you gotta know someone" to get in....and I HATE THAT, to me, the reeks of exclusivity......all others stay out.

in other words, the range i am a member of, supports people of all races, colors, sexual preferences, religions, etc,etc......that to me says they are a better place, over an "exclusive people only", type of range.
