At first my thought was, I have plenty of ammo and after Trump is reelected prices will go down and I'll restock. Then I thought what if Biden wins. I don't want to go to deep into my supply. Yesterday I was on Ammo seek. South Georgia Outdoors had 1000 Magtech 9mm for $279. $19 for shipping. No tax. I bought one. About a minute later they were sold out. I got a shipping conformation today. Hate to pay that much, but it's the way it is now.

Yeah, I decided to start to begin to consider to think about organizing the corner of the garage with all of the ammo in it. Found out I had five cases of 9mm and some misc boxes. Should hold me for a while.

So not a hoarder, just an idiot.

What's funny is .40 and 10mm, I can find cheaper than 9mm some places. And more available. In these panic times 9mm is the 1st to go. Owning weapons in several calibers is advantageous.
And who sets the price on ammo? Use Federal for an example. They are selling everything they can make and they are going to double the price? I'm sure the middle men have their hands in the pot too.

My guess would be the middle men; wholesalers and retailers. A lot of ammo manufacture is contracted ahead of time with fixed costs. Just my opinion...

Man this is nuts.I just paid the same amount of cash that I did back in march for half of the ammo! 500 rounds of federal 115gr,fmj training ammo for $180.and they say price gouging is illegal.Bullcrap!!

Adding to the pain is reloading components are just as hard to find.
I am in good shape but went looking for some 124 fmj or jhp bullets and I checked nine different usually reliable places and none are in stock.

Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore sent an e-mail this morning saying they had 500 rd. boxes of Winchester white box. 259.00, there must be some desperate people out there because it is out of stock. I bought the same thing from Bass Pro a couple of months ago for 99.00 shipped, I felt like I was paying a premium then.

Ammo is getting harder to get hold of. It is the perfect storm of price gouging and slowing of supply, since a lot of places are running short staffed and taking longer to fill orders. Back in February, the last time I purchased factory ammo, I paid $7.50 a 60 round box of Monarch 115GR FMJ RN with brass casings, now if you can find factory ammo it is easily 2 to 3 times that price. I have been reloading exclusively since March, and while I have been good about stock piling reloading components, it has been very hard to stick to my rule of not making more ammo than I could make using what I had purchased in a month. 9mm bullets come and go like a lightning strike, and when I am able to buy bullets it takes a long time for them to ship (if took 7 weeks to get receive an order of Blue Bullets) and I am currently waiting for an order of X-Treme bullets and a pound of TightGroup from Bass Proshop for a week and counting. At least prices haven't gone up significantly on reloading components, they are just harder to find in stock. CCi small pistol primers have been the most elusive. I have been able to buy Federal small pistol primers (match grade) fairly regularly; however, last week when I went out shopping for components, I was only able to find Remington 5 1/2 small pistol primers. I am down to 1100 CCi small pistol primers, and about the same amount of Federal. I only bought 500 of the Remington 5 1/2 so I can test them out.

Scored a 1000 at a local reloading store near Baton Rouge. Happy Dance!

I bought 6 cases this month (1000 per case) , all at the same gun shop , $34.76 per case. I see them selling 2000 primers for over $200 on gunbroker. It's absolutely insane what people are willing to pay right now.

Academy gets them in from time to time, as long as you don't mind brown. (Of course, since it is a custom color, that is probably why they get them.)

LT USN (Ret.) wrote: Thu Jul 30, 2020 5:17 pm I couldn't have started reloading at a better time.

I'm loading comp rounds and saving the store bought ones for self-defense. Life it good.....

At least a few nights a week I reload anywhere from a 100 to 300 rounds. I've been constantly picking up brass at shooting areas , I've bought brass off of a couple guys on gunbroker( decent deals) , and every couple of weeks I've been buying 500 bullets online for reloading. My stockpile is growing , now I need to buy a set of .357 dies so that I can start reloading .38sp/.357

They are out there to buy if you want to pay an arm and a leg for them. Look at gunbroker , the prices will make your stomach turn.

My neighbor just drove 180 miles round trip to buy 2000 primers because he can’t find them anywhere else. Crazy times!
