Don't we all. Large rifle primers every where but no small pistol.

Your best bet is to check with all small indy shops within the radius of what you are willing to drive to get them.
I got some small pistol pri.ers but had to drive 2 1/2 hours each way to get them. They are out there but will require some work on your part to find them.

Same scenario here. I had just bought a reloading kit this spring, right around the time the madness started. I found primers at a local shop and bought a box for myself and one for a friend. Ended up wishing I had kept both for myself. Haven't seen any since.

Great advice!!!!!

I live in the Atlanta, GA area. I expanded my normal search radius and then did a search for authorized dealers on the CCi website and just started calling. Sure enough I found a store about an hours drive that had some in stock. They were not CCi, but any store that is an authorized dealer of one reloading product more than likely carries others, so I jumped into the car in the crazy storm and made my way to the store. I purchased two boxes (2000 primers) at their normal price. I wish I could have bought a few more boxes, but by the time I got to the store to pick up the two I asked them to hold for me, they were hesitant to hold more, every box they had was claimed.

Thanks for the good advise Jester :-BD

$60...(gulp)...per box is their normal price? Yikes... Sure glad I've got a few.

There was a guy on my squad at the Carolina Classic USPSA match last Saturday that told me he had 40,000 primers. He was serious. :((

The match director of one of the USPSA matches I shoot has over 100,000 small pistol primers. I have been trying to buy 10k from him.

I agree, under normal circumstances I would spend $60 a box for primers, but the normal places where I spend under $35 a box per 1000 have been out for months. Small private store usually charge more, especially when they are out of the beaten path and the only game in their town. Yes normally I would have balked at $60 a box because in my area the going rate is almost half that, but during a time when this same store could have doubled their price (or charged even more than that), I am thankful to get them at $60 per 1000.

Hey the guy with 40,000 primers probably got caught short handed during the last shortage. If things every get back to normal and cases of primers go back down to .02 to .03 per primer, I will make a habit of buying primers regularly whether I need them or not. I may not stock pile 40,000 but you can believe that when the next shortage hits, I will have enough to continue at least shooting normally.

I now have about 1200 rounds made in the safe, and about 4700 primers and pre-primed brass, and you can believe that I am going to continue to hunt for more just as hard as I have been until the shortage is over. I may now cap the most that I will spend to $60, but before I got my hands on the two boxes I got today, my limit was probably I bit higher. The less you have with no end of the drought in site, the more you will be willing to pay. I would never have paid what the jokers on gun brokers and armslist are asking for (I would just have to stop recreational shooting for a while), but I probably would have spent up to $85 for a box of 1000.

What pushed me over the edge today was this morning during my daily web search and checking to see if I received any wish list notices, the Bass Pro Shop site had an active order button on CCi #500s for $34 per 1000. I put 5 boxes in my cart, chose the ship to store option, and when I clicked on the "place order" button the notice that there wasn't enough inventory to complete my order popped up, so I removed 2 boxes from my cart and tried again, same message, remove 2 more and tried again, same thing, then I tried the ship to my address (it kills me to pay the hazmat fee) and added 2 more into my cart, same thing, remove the 2 and tried again and got the same thing. At least I tried every which way I could and when the page refreshed, the order button was gone. That is when I took Jester's advise and started calling stores a little further away than I had been looking.

$60/1,000 primers (plus powder and lead) beats the hell out of $600+/1,000 rds of 9mm.

I left about 300 cases in the gravel on the range this week. Since I don't reload 9mm, I figured that getting dies and stressing out on getting primers was not worth it. I figured it was a statement on my confidence in the American people to do the right thing in November. If they don't, we will be living in interesting times (or if the mail in ballot scams end up stealing the election then range ammo might not be my biggest problem. Hint: think JHP and M855...)

Was able to pick up a 1000 CCi today for $49.99. This is twice in eight days I was able to purchase small pistol primers. I hope this means that more are coming. The shop I got them from said this is the first time in months they received CCi #500

Had to fight the urge to buy more.

It's more like a necessity right now.

I bought 2000 last week and a thousand today, and I had about 2000 already onhand and about 700 primed and ready to load brass cases. I will start buying or trying to purchase more primers going forward, but I also don't want to be a hoarder when everyone is still trying to get some.

Not here. I can't find ANY locally or online. Powder, bullets & brass, good to go. Primers, not so good.
