CZ P07 and 09

Post by Janik » Sun Jun 03, 2018 10:19 pm

Anyone have both the CZ P07 and P09? I've handled both at my LGS and I'm really wanting to add one of them to my collection. I just can't really decide though. This won't be for carrying. Mainly a range gun, but I suppose could end up in nightstand duty. I'm just curious if anyone either has both, or has shot both. I like the longer sight radius, but I also like the compactness of the P07. I'm sure if I end up really liking whichever one I decide on, I'll add the other one later. Anyway, just looking for some real world thoughts and opinions. Thanks.

I have both and would go with the P-09 for night stand/range gun although the P=07 is a good pistol, better suited to carry.

Both are accurate!

Thanks for the input. I have a feeling I'm going to end up with both before the year is over. I'll probably get the P09 first, since I don't plan to carry it.

Once you get a P-07 you will want to carry it!

I've 2 P07's regular model and the tactical with suppressor sights and threads. Its an awesome pistol. P09 is great as well basically your comparing G19 vs G17 can't go wrong with either but if you might carry it which you'll want to the G19/P07 is the better choice. Also if you go 07 buy P10 mag's for some reason they're cheaper then 07 mags even though they're the same.

That's what I'm afraid of. I already have a Canik addiction. I'm afraid once I get a CZ the wife will end up leaving me. lol

Great info, thanks. I didn't realize the P07 and P10 shared the same mags. That's been one of the deterring factors so far is the price of them.

CZ75 mags and Tristar 100 series mags also fit in the 07, however the p10/07 mags dont fit in the tristars a little to fat.

I’m looking to get a P09 (I think) as a possible suppressor host, with the thought of finally breaking into the suppressor world.

But I may consider a second P07 for the purpose. I really like the size of the P07. It is kind of in that magic size range like the Glock 19. Not too small and not too big, but just right. Big enough to handle, point, and shoot well. Small enough that it doesn’t limit you as much as large frame/slide pistols when it comes to the option to carry, throw in a range bag, etc.

I'm really struggling deciding on which one first. I like the size of flexibility of the P07, but don't know that I'll actually carry it. I also like the size of the 09 for home defense and a range gun. Both have their benefits, I just don't know which one to get yet. I'll probably start with an 07 and get the 09 down the road. But first, I need to finish my Canik collection. I need a TP9SA Mod2 first.

Unless you become a CZ addict as well the 09 doesnt really bring much to the table over the 07, the 07 tactical comes with 17rd mag's and you can run the 09 mags as well. Bigger grip and sight radius is about all and for me at my shooting level anyway the slightly longer barrel doesn't change much. Hell i always shot my 19 better then my 17.

CZ sidenote if you want to run an RMR a new P10 is coming out with milled slide.

I think I've decided on the P07 as my first CZ handgun. As much as the P10 intrigues me, I would really like to own a hammer fired handgun again. Once I get the 07, I'm going to add a Kadet kit to it.

Nice, I'd invest in one of the Kadet's if they made it with a threaded barrel. I think you'll be pleased the 07.
Decide which 07 you want, standard or tactical?
You have time for the P10 rmr anyway I don't think its being released for a few more months.

I like the 07s a lot. My wife and I each have one. They are 100% reliable A lot of guns like a 07 or Elite compare to a G19, but neither is a small or compact. Pretty close though. Personally I like that size of pistol. I think the 07 is much more usable.

I think my wife will really like the 07 once I get it, and it will probably end up in my carry rotation. The 09 may be a little to large for her liking. Now to just work it into my budget.
