Sold My Sig Sauer SP2022, now what to buy

I bought a used Sig SP2022 about 4 weeks back and found out that I'm not a fan of Sigs... Don't get me wrong.. It functioned 100%.. I just didn't like how it felt... Kind of like Glocks to me.. I've shot them but don't really care for them...

Gun show this weekend... Thinking either a CZ or a Beretta..... This is going to me my home nightstand gun.. I already have the O-light Mini, so whatever I buy needs to have a front rail. I want DA/SA Hammer fired with a decocker.....

Also, I'm a lefty, so Ambi controls are important to me as well.

Beretta PX4 Storm Compact (not subcompact).
Checks all the boxes!
Actually, I've never fired a PX4, but always liked the aesthetics, comfortable grip, and the external hammer. I'm also intrigued by the rotary action instead of the tilt barrel. Never have bought one because it wouldn't fill a need, either for carry, or home defense.

Also, if you want a metal frame... Bersa Thunder Ultra Compact (or whatever they are calling it now.) Ambi, external hammer, decocker, and great trigger.

Going to a local gun show this weekend. I’m still leaning towards the Beretta 92 compact. I’m not to concerned with size, I want at least 15 rounds though. While I’ve reserved decent funds for it, it’s still primarily a nightstand gun. Still open to ideas though

Super sweet gun, but you’re hitting over the 1k price point. Granted, worth almost every penny. But for a primarily nightstand gun it’s to much. I’d really like to stay in the $500.00 range if possible. I’d go for the tristar T-120, but it’s not ambi or decocker. If necessary I can live without that function. 40 years of decocking a handgun without any problems.

It’s finding that sweet spot of function and form at a price that if I ever have the unfortunate need to use it in a self defense situation, I don’t have to worry about it being in a police lockup for 6 months. That’s also why I would never carry a super high end pistol as my EDC.

Yes, the 07's and 09's are defiantly on the radar.... All fall within the price range and features that I'm looking for.... Think I'll stick with the 9mm for now though.... There's usually some pretty decent deals on gun broker.com but embarrassing enough, I've never held one so I'm a bit shy about buying first.. That's what happened with the Sig... I basically bought it before really trying it out... Found that I'm just not a friend of Sig... I don't like ergo's that Sig has....

My boys and I are looking forward to hitting the gun show on Sunday.... It's so much more fun when you have $$ in your pocket.... I've either sold or traded 5 guns in the last 3 weeks... (I know.. Please don't judge  )

Here's my breakdown.

Cash $750.00 in pocket
Gun show entrance fee x 3 -$25.00
Gun show overpriced lunch - $30.00
Gun show beef jerky and smoked cheese (Seriously, you can't leave a gun show without at least buying some exotic beef jerky and cheese) :d

Figure that leaves me around $675.00 or so...

Good gun in the $500.00 range plus tax... $550.00

Leaves me with about $125.00 left over... I can get 1k rounds of Tula steel case 9mm for that....

You're a good dad. Just remind them of this when you come to live with them. 😁

Doesn’t meet the basic criteria.

Hammer fired DA/SA
Hammer drop safety
Don’t need a threaded barrel
Overpriced for a nightstand gun

If they have used guns, especially PD trade ins, maybe a 3rd gen S&W, 5906? Not sure if you can get an ambi slide stop/release. My first pistol was a 5906, sold it to a friend 20 years ago. One of the few pistols I wish I never sold.

Found a unfired CZ SP-01 Phantom for sale today for $415.00. Only thing the decocker isn't Ambi... But I can live with that for the price... Still going to hit the gun show on Sunday... If I don't find anything hopefully the CZ will still be for sale..... I would buy it right now, but I'm still gun shy (yes pun intended) about purchasing without handling it first... I don't want to meet the guy and then back out because I don't like how it feels.

SIDE NOTE:

The guy that I sold my Sig to had a S&W Shield with laser for sale. I told him I had a buddy that might be interested, anyway sure enough he was, so we met him again and my friend bought the Shield.. He told me he also has the new Taurus TH9c.... So I'm like ok... let me see.... OMG..... That had to have had a 20# trigger pull DA.... HORRIBLE... I've seen the reviews on the new TH9 series and they are all pretty decent but one of the reoccurring themes is that it's a long hard pull.... The TH9 was on my long list for my nightstand gun... I actually like the Taurus brand and figured hey, nightstand gun only, and the TH9 is only in the $300.00 range... Whew... sure glad I had the chance to try one before buying....

Guess that reinforces my decision above to first hit the gun show before committing to buying a model that I am unfamiliar with sight unseen... Granted, you can't compare a CZ to a Taurus, but then again neither can you compare the Sig, and I sure didn't like that model either...

So after all said and done. I picked up the Girsan Regard 92 FS at a local gun show today. $370.00 out the door. Between reviews, hitting all of my requirements and already owning the Girsan 1911. I felt it was the best compromise for a primary nightstand self defense weapon. Takes my Beretta 92 mags of c si it’s a 92 clone.
