Ya the optic would be for my fathers enjoyment. He is not a fan of striker fire pistols and is a little old school. The 1911 is gun porn for him or a good revolver. The 1911 allows me to go 9mm easier if he thinks 45 is above his ability these days. I am probably sticking with 45 since it will undoubtedly fill both my 1911 and 45 niche. Unless that IWI 941 suckers me in first... then it will not matter what caliber the 1911 is really.
So here's the rub....

You asked if it's a deal or bust....

1. You've read the reviews and see that it has overall very positive reviews
2. I own one, and have given my one personal review here where I think it's a quality built firearm.
3. Your looking for a .45acp 1911 handgun with a red dot mount for a decent price

Results

1. Check
2. Check
3. Check

Go for it... worst case is you sell it and get your $$ back... I would love to give you more reviews over the coming weeks, but unfortunately due to a medical procedure I had last week, I can't go to the range for 6 weeks....
