Whats your backup mag EDC situation?

Post by TL1000RSquid » Sun Feb 10, 2019 5:48 pm

How many spares if any do you typically carry? I normally carry 1 to 2. My G19 AIWB rig has a mag holder so if I carry that I typically have a 2nd mag on my belt. If carrying my G42 I normally carry 2 back ups, CZ P07 I usually carry just 1 back up mag. I also keep 2 12rd g42 mags, 2 cz mags and 1 g18 mag in my truck. I carry stock mags in the guns so 15+1 for the cz and g19 and 6+1 for g42, the CZ and G42 back up mag(s) have +2 bases and my G19 backup(s) are G17 mags.

I only carry 1 extra mag. I have an IWB soft mag pouch that has held up well for a couple years now. I think I got it on Ebay. If we're traveling though, I'll put extra mags in my wifes purse. She carry's a revolver, but usually doens't complain about the extra weight.

When I carry OWB I carry one extra mag in a knife pouch. If in the truck, 2 extra mags in the center console.

I normally don't carry an extra mag with my double stacked guns unless I am on the road.
On my single stacks I carry a spare mag in a iwb clip on mag holder. I got them on Amazon pretty cheap....I think about $12 for a 2 pack.

1 extra mag, single or double stack. Off-side appendix.

9 round mag for the XDs. 18 round mag for my Elite. For the SD9VE, the spare is the only mag that can actually take 16 rounds; I've got 15+1 in the gun.

I carry 1 even in multiple person shoots you rarely fire more than 10 rounds. The average is high because most people squeeze the trigger until it empties the mag or cylinder because of adrenaline and lack of training. I have my firearm and 1 extra mag and an AR15 and 3 mags in the car. If that doesn't deter any problem that arises we're in serious trouble and small arms probably isn't the answer.

"In God we trust, all others we monitor." Reminds me of the hatches to the crippie spaces on a ship.

It was the NSA motto until Homeland Security stole it. Their new motto is "Defending Our Nation. Securing The Future."
