FTE on my nearly new TP9SF Elite

Post by pkk » Mon Feb 11, 2019 8:10 pm

Hello All. I've been putting rounds through my nearly new Elite. I have about 200 rds through it as I write this. I love the gun. But after I added +2 mag extensions I had a couple of FTE at my last range trip. Before I put those on it was flawless. Could it be the extensions, and if so, what can I do to fix the problem short of removing the extensions? Thanks in advance.

Being a technical troubleshooter most of my professional life I would say to take your mags back to spec. After that you’ll know.

Beware of Dragons. For you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

I'm wondering if those mag exts came with new longer springs?

But?.....like Tejas said.....changes to the mag can make it malfunction.

They didn't come with longer springs. I used the same ones.

I wonder if it might help to slightly stretch the springs.

I'd say get new longer springs. I personally haven't had issues using +2's with OEM springs (canik,cz,glock) but have run into issues with going +3/4 or more.

I haven't had a issue with +2 mag extensions either, but in your case certainly seems like you need stronger springs

Or buy a Canik 20 rounder and see if it works. It will just stick out a bit more, but you will have a 20 rounder if you need it.

Do any of you know where I can get some longer springs? My guess is I should get springs for a 17rd mag?
