3.23 UPDATE:
I managed a quick 60 rounds of S&B 124gr this afternoon between persistent rain showers. TWO failures to fully enter battery. No other failures.

I've been leaving the slide locked open and the mags loaded between range sessions. The failure rates have been decreasing with each range outing.

However, I'm still not satisfied with this whole situation. I suppose I expect more from Canik - the usual higher quality that I've come to expect.

So between sessions (3 days) I kept mags fully loaded and slide Open...did some light cleaning and oiled as I always do. Switched from Blazer Brass 124gr to American Eagle 124g....50 rounds of Winchester 147 JHP, and couple mags of SD Ammo HST. Not one fail to go into battery or fail to feed.
So it's a positive step forward towards my EDC. Waiting on a holster .....anyone know about a Tritium front sight that will fit ??? Hoping mags will be available soon.
Same sights as other Canik's right? I'd go Night Fision.

My SF Elite took about 250rds before it stopped having FTE malfunctions, though it typically performed fine with hotter stuff like S&B most ma lfunctions were 115 WWB and Federal, after the 250 ran another 100 or so fmj and about 100hp's before i trusted it.

Well, I guess I'll be in the club soon.

I had planned to wait for my gunsmith to get me one (which he does at his cost), or at least until I found one for $399 or less. But Family Firearms had one in stock (online) for suggested retail. No tax, no credit card fees, and no transfer fees (through my local club). $20 shipping. They're already so inexpensive I decided not to hold out for a better deal. $449.98 and it should be in my hands next week, I reckon.

Whenever my gunsmith is finally able to get one, I might just buy a second one, so I can have one setup with an optic on it and one with iron sights (for when I need maximum concealability).

I'm thinking the stock triggers I took out of my Rivals are going to be good candidates to install in the MC9.

Handled one at local RangeUSA and - I'll pass. Nothing to compel me to replace my P365X or P365 Macro I carry everyday.
First thing was I pinched my hand inserting the mag, grip too short. Trigger was very heavy.

Following another Range session I contacted Canik service to return this MC9. Experienced 20% fail to return to battery with American Eagle 124 and Blazer Brass 124. Totally unacceptable for having fired over 300 rounds with this thing. Been 2 days now with NO response so I won't be owning this or any other Canik. Had hopes for the MC9 but just can't trust this for EDC . We'll see how their Customer service is.........

I bought my Canik Mete MC9 on Friday, 24 March. I shot it the following day and function was 100%... no issues in that regard whatsoever. I shot from sand bags at 24 yards and it was shooting left and low. I drifted the rear sight and it centered up nicely but still about 4 inches low. This past Wednesday I shot it again without an issue. The trigger breaks cleanly and crisply at 4 1/2 pounds.

All of my cartridges were my reloads in both 115 and 124 grain weights. I used round nose and truncated cone bullets. Other than shooting low, accuracy was excellent. I need to reduce the front sight height by .025" to hit point of air at 25 yards. However, I have a red dot on order and that will solve the sighting problem. Below is a target I shot at 24, 10 and 7 yards as marked. At 24 yards I used sand bags while 10 & 7 yards were two hands standing.

Since you are reloading try a power that burns very quickly. I had the same issues in my Shield 9mm and Taurus G3C. I fixed both by using the Speer Gold Dot "Short Barreled" ammo.

I just reached out to Canik's (Century) customer service this afternoon. The failure and malfunctions continue, every range outing with any discernable pattern.

UNacceptable, particularly for a gun which was purchased with the intent of replacing my current EDC.

I immediately received the traditional form email reply: due to the high volume of responses, we'll get to your email as quickly as we can. Etc, etc, etc.

We'll see how long that takes, I guess.

I bought one yesterday and cleaned and lubed it and took it straight to the range.

I can report almost 100% failure to return to battery. It would still fire about 80% of the time but 20% of the time the failure to return to battery was so bad the gun would not fire and I had to slam it my hand to force it into battery.

I put 400 rounds through it and can report that it continued through the entire range trip.

I've sent CANIK support a ticket and asked them for a shipping label to use at my FFL.

If this gun is to be carried it has to be 100% reliable. I own 6 CANIKs and this is the first to have any issues. I needless to say am disappointed but I will give them a chance to make it right.

You're saying that 80% of the time, your pistol was firing without the slide being fully into battery?

Lets continue to update each other here so none of us miss out. I'd bet Canik is overwhelmed with complaints about this issue. So far I'm pretty mad about their lack of response.....trying to be patient !

Just my opinion, but I think every point in that video was a red herring. I think all those things he pointed out are normal and common in guns that work fine. Especially when they are new and breaking in.

My suspicion is that it just needs a stronger recoil spring.

It might not "cure" the "problem" where you can pull the slide back just a little and it will then hang up there. But that is not a real-world problem anyway. Even with guns well-known to be 100% reliable, (almost) everybody knows you should not ride the slide forward, as that is likely to induce malfunctions. The concern is that it works during a full cycle, as happens when you fire a round, or when you insert a mag and pull the slide all the way back and release it. The concern is NOT what it does if you ride it slowly forward until it's almost in battery and then release it. That part is definitely a red herring.

I think the parts about the extractor spring being too stiff and the breech face (not a bolt face!) needing to be polished are also total red herrings.

My further suspicion is that in one or more previous models (in the U.S.) lots of people complained because their guns didn't work because the recoil spring was too stiff for the ammo they were using. Thus, the forum posts telling people they need to break their pistol in with "NATO 9mm" ammo, because it's "hotter".

Canik sent a lot of people free recoil spring replacements that were softer than the original. I would not be at all surprised to learn that for the MC9, they tried to prevent that from happening again by shipping the MC9 with a softer recoil spring assembly from the outset. And now they are simply having the same problem in reverse.

Soft riding the slide home is one thing.....but experiencing this in live fire is a whole different story. I'm experiencing it with mine currently so it's a real issue.

Have to ask if this is happening with the same ammo or a bunch of off the shelf ammo? Stuart might be on to it with the recoil spring. I think I mentioned it before it might be a too strong of a striker spring out of battery issue. Hope you work it out.
