Range day was a success 300 rounds of blazer, Winchester white box and a mixture of selfdefence ammo no issues. Really happy with the pistol easy to shoot

I’m hoping to get my hands on one! Every review I’ve seen has been a true shooter!!

Question for those of you who've bought or shot one, if you've also shot cz p10 subcompact how do they compare?

Out of the box the MC9 is one tight son of a b! I had a very hard time getting the slide to lock open. The take down levers were also very tight. Field stripped and lubed, off to range the following day.

Range Day 1 - Growing Pains, 1st 25 rounds (115 gr CCI Blazer) were a nightmare. FTF, FTE Stovepipes, mag falling to lock open. Brass ejecting everywhere. After those 25 or so rounds everything started working as it should. No more of the above issues in all rounds after that. The trigger didn't feel quite like my other Caniks (TP9SFX & METE SFX) I expected it to be a little heavier and thats fine but it just didn't feel right. Recoil was actually softer than my Walther PPS and thats impressive. After the gowing pains rds it ran 150 rds flawlessly. Was shooting the gun a bit to the left. Day one left me with mixed emotions.

Range day 2 - Before I headed to the range for a second time, I field stripped the gun, cleaned and lubed it. As I was working some lube into he trigger I heard and felt a slight "click". trigger seemed to be working ok, so throught nothing of it. After everything was reassembled, started to dry fire and notice that the trigger felt completely different and for the better! It now felt like a Canik trigger should. Accuracy improved immensely. The MC9 started running like a well oiled machine. 200 rds fired flawlessly. My handgun range target is a quarter size circle, shooting at 8-12 yds.

Range day 3 - All tightness gone. 200 rds fired without a single failure. Three different brands of FMJ. Extremely soft shooting firearm, I could shoot this firearm all day if I wanted too. It just keeps getting better and better. More than 95% of my shots were in the circle, the othjer 5% were just outside.

Range day 4 - Hollowpoint day. Ran over 100 rds of assorted HP's. Not a single failure. I am now more accurate with the MC9 than any other small 9 I've fired and I have fired just about all of them. After the initial short breakin this handgun has become an absolute winner. I am totally confident having this gem on my hip.

UPDATE, as of 03/20:

Well, I'm actually very conflicted after getting the MC9 out to the range.

The GOOD: The MC9 feels just as good in hand while shooting as when I held it in the store. The curved METE beavertail is a little more comfortable and fits my hand a little better than the more square beavertail of the SFx. The white dot front sight is easily acquired. The size of the gun allows easy management of recoil.

The gun is very accurate, at least in my hands. I didn't have any issues keeping to the bullseye at 5-7yds, with some rounds entering through the same hole and other hits touching. So, accuracy is amazing for a little gun, particularly in close quarters, which is pretty much what I'd anticipate using a carry gun for.

The CONCERNING and PUZZLING: I have had 8 failures to fire (3 of which were light strikes) in 80 rounds of 124gr ammunition and 20 rounds of 115gr. I was using 5 different brands of ammunition: Blazer, MagTech, S&B, Fiocchi, and Federal (115g). The failures only occurred with the two magazines which came with the MC9. When I ran the same ammunition through the MC9 using one of my Rival mags, not a single failure. I also had several instances of the gun failing to fully enter battery. Yes, I had thoroughly cleaned and appropriately lubed the gun prior to that range outing.

I plan to retest (hopefully today) with some Rival and SFx magazines and most of the same ammunition brands. Unfortunately, I don't think I have any more Fiocchi remaining.

As of now, with this many failures, I cannot carry the MC9 as planned. Pretty disappointed, to say the least.

Load your MC9 mags completely full and let them sit that way at least over night.

Sometimes new mags have springs that are extra stiff and cause problems until the springs get used and relax a little bit.

I did that (load up the new MC9 mags and let them sit overnight) prior to that range outing, since I do that with all of my magazines when they are all fresh and new.

Might need to load them and let them sit longer.

Since the gun works with your Rival mags, it seems pretty safe that the gun does not have a problem. It's just the new mags.

Okay, so I snuck in a quick trip to the local outdoor gun club. I ran about 60 rounds through the MC9: 40rds of 124gr (Blazer, MagTech, and S&B) and 20rds of Federal 115gr.

No failures to fire today. I did have many failures to enter battery fully. I lost count of how many times I had to rap the back of the slide to get the gun to enter battery completely. (No, I was not limpwristing, before that's suggested. I was paying very close attention to grip and so on after Monday's myriad of failures.) I also didn't have any problems with the MC9 mags today.

When I tried the 18+2 SFx magazines, they were problematic. The first round didn't want to chamber, and I had intermittent failures to feed with those SFx magazines. (As I have no plans to use 18+2 SFx mags on the MC9, I'm not concerned. This was more in the line of an experiment, than anything.)

On the plus side, the gun continues to be exceptionally accurate. Like, through the same hole or all holes touching accurate. Very pleased in that regard.

I'm planning to tear the gun down and thoroughly clean it again before the next range outing. I'm just puzzled as this is the first Canik that's ever given me any issues whatsoever. Very frustrating.

I got email notice at 3pm today that my LGS has a black MC9 in stock.

I arrived there at 5:40. No longer in stock. *sigh*

But, they did have an FDE MC9 behind the glass, so I took the opportunity to fondle it.

It had the worst Canik trigger I've experienced. It had noticeable creep and was heavy (by Canik standards). Reset was still short and fairly crisp, though. As mentioned elsewhere, it was very stiff to rack the slide, too.

I still want one, but I guess my expectations are a little lower now.

Folks are having issues when the break in is not performed right. HOT NATO ammo is needed to set the recoil spring and get the gun loosened up. Also the gun must be cleaned properly, including the magazines, before hitting the range. I have not had one issue with my gun; now over 400 rounds.
I'm sorry for those having issues. I would suggest starting the break in/cleaning process over and try again.

I'm glad that you apparently got a good one. Fantastic! I really am glad to know that they are out there and circulating.

I am following a similar break-in process as I've done with all of my handguns, including my last 3 Caniks. Thorough cleanings, slide open when not in use, mags loaded for overnight or longer, 124g ammunition (NATO is unusual to find in this area), etc. [S&B 124gr is fairly close to NATO spec, going by muzzle energy and muzzle velocity, so I typically use that for the first couple of hundred rounds in a new gun. Since the MC9 wasn't doing well with the S&B on Monday, I did branch out to a four other manufacturers for trial and error.]

This MC9 is the first gun that has proven resistant to reliability. I even have a first-generation Taurus Spectrum (if you're familiar with the debacle that those guns presented a lot of consumers initially) that hasn't caused me this much frustration.

I will keep at the break-in process for awhile longer before reaching out to Canik, if issues don't resolve. However, at this time, it is entirely too UNreliable to even consider carrying as an EDC. I need my EDC to go bang every single time I pull the trigger...not click, not fail to fully enter battery, not light strike, etc. Argh.

This is really frustrating. I'll go out on a limb and say the firing pin spring is now too stout? This is behaving like a softer recoil spring and heavy firing pin spring. IDK, just putting this out there. Something is out of spec. I wouldn't hesitate contacting Canik for support.

I agree, S&B is hot! Maybe the Blazer 124g is out of spec? How many rounds go thru when it has the out of battery issue? Might consider loading all of your MC9 mags with the same ammo; trying to isolate the ammo or a magazine issue. And, was the plunk test performed with said ammo?

I wish we all lived closer to help each other out!

I also had the thought that if the gun is not going fully into battery, that could indicate an overly stiff striker spring - or too soft recoil spring.

The striker gets cocked in the last part of the slide travel, just before it is fully in battery. At that point, the slide is being pushed forward by the recoil spring and working against the striker spring (to cock the striker).

I wonder how the striker spring spring weight compares to the spring weight on a Rival striker spring.

Just curious, is the included holster no good for concealed carry?

I want the MC9, but I'm not worried about extra mags. With the included 12 and 15, plus all my full size mags for my Rival, I think I'll be good. Carry one of the originals in the gun and a factory 20-rounder as a backup.

I tried the stock holster and quickly took it off and put it in the "box". That one is not for me. My Galco (Shield 3") leather IWB just arrived and I think this will work for me better. So between sessions (3 days) I kept mags fully loaded and slide Open...did some light cleaning and oiled as I always do. Switched from Blazer Brass 124gr to American Eagle 124g....50 rounds of Winchester 147 JHP, and couple mags of SD Ammo HST. Not one fail to go into battery or fail to feed.
So it's a positive step forward towards my EDC. Waiting on a holster .....anyone know about a Tritium front sight that will fit ??? Hoping mags will be available soon.

I am very glad this is beginning to work out! I know each gun has it's own "personality" but damn!
