I bought the Blade-Tech for comp and added in thumb screws so I can loosen while on the line and tighten when not. I added in the BOSS hanger; biggy difference to the good.

Is that Blade-Tech for your SFx? If so, I looked around at their stuff and didn't see anything for Canik pistols. Sent them an e-mail too and got told they don't make them. I have looked over at Smokey Mountain Concealment though, and I think that's going to be my go to for a SFx holster for competition!

Also, what optic are you running on your SFx? I'm at a toss up right now between a Vortex Venom 3MOA and a Holosun 407C.

If you search the forum I did a review of the 507C on an SFx.

When using the optic it's a lot bigger that the picture indicates.

After seeing the 507C field of view I'm now leaning towards a 507C instead of the 407C. Didn't think the circle with a dot was going to be practical, but damn does it look good and I'm sure it helps with those quick target acquisitions when going from target to target....... uuuggghhh more money out the door before I get it!

New to this forum. I have just finished my first year of competition.

The club I belong to has about 50 events a year.
I started with falling plate using rim fire pistol, then rim fire rifle both with optics.
Summer had eight speed steel events and six silhouette shooting events(I started the silhouette shooting at the end of the season I wish I had started it sooner).
There is also a plinker style shooting that I attended the last shoot of the year, a fun and unique way to shoot paper targets.

This year I have add a Canik 9 mm and our first falling plate shoot is this Saturday. Unlike the rim fire, I want to keep this center fire gun stock, the steel sights are challenging but I should be able to shoot the steel with it that way. The ranges also has trap and skeet, but I will hold off on those for now.

I shoot USPSA. Got a match coming up this Saturday. We shoot the 1st and 2nd Saturday of the month at the Orange Gun Club in Orange, Texas. I used to shoot IDPA, but quit for personal reasons. Safety being one of the reasons. I don't think they are as safe as our club in USPSA. MHO. Anyway, I am one of the oldest shooters at the matches, and am having the time of my life. I usually finish in the middle of the pack, which is ok with me. I am not as fast as the younger guys. LOL I am 77yrs old and still have a puff left. LOL Yall stay safe. WG

I shoot Steel Challenge, USPSA,, and Rimfire Challenge. Just started this year and love the matches. During the winter there is a gun range about 40 minutes away that does indoor competitive shoots every Wednesday that are a cross between IDPA and USPSA and I try to get to one a month.

I have been shooting IDPA for about 6 years and USPSA for about 5 years. Just bought a Canik TP9SFX to try my hand at Carry Optics in both styles of shooting. Qualified for USPSA PCC Nationals this past summer, my first Nationals.

I shoot IPSC since there is nothing else here in Germany

Interesting thump rest. What holster would that fit in besides a magnetic open holster?

My club runs IDPA matches from April thru October every year. I shoot and work almost every match. It's a great means to get in a lot of practice and do things you wouldn't usually do. For example sitting in a row boat holding an oar and the bad guys show up. Our matches are a lot of fun and the stages are different every time.
You could look at the IDPA website or look for gun clubs in your area. I shot USPSA years ago. The biggest difference I see between the 2 is IDPA is concealed carry (like real life), no power factor, and magazines are limited to specified amount depending on the class you shoot in.

I have been shooting USPSA since 2015. I shoot TP9SFx in Carry Optics. Current classification is A in CO and B in Limited. Before I started shooting USPSA I was shooting Benchrest rifle competitions. I am also the USPSA Match Director for my local club.

Shot my first USPSA match in 1985. Then, in 1986, I shot a shoot-off style steel match. Been shooting both ever since. Started with Colts, then moved to Springfields and Kimbers. Even had a few STIs. Always seemed like the guns needed worked on and tweaked in some way. So I switched to Smith M&Ps. Accuracy was lacking but at least they ran. In 2018 I started hearing about something called a Canik. Read all I could find on them (mostly on this forum) and bought an SFX in May of 2019. Here was the gun I've been looking for; accurate, reliable and inexpensive. And all this right out of the box. Bought another SFX and then an SF Elite for EDC. Plan on turning one of the SFXs into an Open gun as soon as I can find a threaded barrel. Thanks Canik, and everyone here at the Forum!

In the last few months, I've shot an IDPA match, a "New Shooters" USPSA match, and a steel match. I like the IDPA because it mimics real life as far as drawing from concealment,varying scenarios, etc. They do tend to get a bit creative in some of their stages, but you still need to put rounds on target. The USPSA match was fun because it wasn't as regimented as IDPA in regards to how you have to engage the threats. They give you a scenario, you tackle it the way you feel is best. And steel, well, steel is just flat-out fun stuff! The sound of hitting your target is pretty cool, and misses don't kill your score like the others.
Bottom line, it will be a long time coming before I can match the guys winning their divisions in any of these competitions. It's not why I'm doing it. I'm doing it for the camaraderie, to improve my skills, and to shoot my guns. And to buy the occasional new gun, like my new SFx.
