Re: Range Day 02-02-20

I got a timer a couple years ago. You can find different drills online that have a “par time” to strive for or improve on. I was usually just shooting for my own personal best, for drills that didn’t have a par time. The FAST drill is a good general drill, and you can run it with paper plates and in...

I have pretty limited experience with .22 semi auto pistols. However, I think I’ve been pretty lucky. I’ve had a Ruger MkII since the mid 90s which has been very reliable. Of course, I keep a bore snake and some CLP nearby when I’m at the range. If it starts to slow down or fail to go fully into bat...

Do the slides fit on each other? I have almost picked up a Walther 99 twice, but it was in .40. I was curious if a 99 slide would fit a Canik. Just did a quick check. The TP9V2 slide did fit onto the Walther frame, but the Walther slide assembly did not fit on the Canik Frame. While dry firing seem...

One place that they are different is that the TP9V2 is $200 less. (And the SF One is half the price of a P99...) You are correct, regarding new pistols. My P99 is used. The origial bill of sale happened to be inside the box, under the foam. Original owner paid $518 for it, new, in 2014. I paid abou...

When we get inside, it is also, quite clear the Canik TP9V2 and other DA/SA pistols are based on the Walther design. Most internal parts look like they would swap pretty readily. The barrels will not, and neither will mags. Extractor design, decocker, and sights are different as well. https://i.ibb....

I finally checked another box on my “pistols to buy” list, and found a lightly used Walther P99AS. In fact, my desire to obtain a P99 is what got me to buy my TP9V2 when P99s could not be found anywhere. I thought it may be of interest to some, to compare the pistol the the Canik TP9 series originat...

Finally going through the box and original paperwork and found the original bill of sale from Nov 2014. Original owner paid $518 for it. I picked it up for about $100 less.

Just a couple days after I found this one a video popped up on YouTube, indicating Classic Firearms got in a batch of Spanish, Guardia Civil, P99s.

Some of the targets. 10 shot or 15 shot groups, 25 feet. I used some “Kentucky windage” on the Winchester NATO group. https://i.ibb.co/qrz2HdN/1-C1-CCD30-703-C-48-AA-9613-5-CDCD953206-C.jpg https://i.ibb.co/zHw3Z3m/455109-E4-08-E6-459-C-87-A4-B1-AF0-EB250-D1.jpg https://i.ibb.co/prSRtst/D0-F89905-87...

Bought this one a couple weeks ago out of the used gun case. Had to go through the new waiting period, but picked it up today and put a few mags trough it. Have had the Walther P99AS on my list for awhile but wanted to wait until I found one at a reasonable price. Date code indicates it is a 2016 mo...

I took a pretty significant break a while back, as I went through transition from the Navy to a civilian job and worked on new certifications.

Life throws distractions every now and again. Hope he is doing well, and returns.

a Ruger PC Carbine Chassis I forgot about a 9mm PCC. I've been looking at the Rugers with the adjustable stock. I don't own any Ruger handguns, so I'd probably go with Glock mags since they are more economical, if I do get one. Otherwise Kel Tec Sub 2K with multi mag option. The Ruger is more comfo...

CZ Scorpion pistol with brace. Not many other firearms on my list. Should be picking up my Walther P99 AS later this week. So, that checked the other box I had for the year. Everything else will be mags and ammo, or reloading gear, and components. Washington is passing more stupid shiz this year, so...

:d Sounds like a good haul. You forgot to mention if you got any jerky. It's not a gun show without some beef jerky. :d Lots of beef sticks and smoked cheese. The gun shows near me have degenerated to being pretty much one firearm vendor. There is no competition, so mostly MSRP on everything. I only went to the last one to sign a petition to repeal i-1639. It was truly sad.

Actually not even any beef jerky.

I do know that you can take a Q5 upper assembly and run it on a SFx lower, and vice versa. So, my guess would be that the trigger components are pretty interchangeable. Canik mags work in the Q5 but not the other way around, because the Q5 mags are shorter.

The SFX is largely a Q5 clone. I don’t have a Q5 or SFx to do a detailed comparison, but there probably is some truth to some parts compatibility.

Another plug for the Streamlight. I’ve run mine in drills and it’s been holding up fine. Not a high round count on it, probably under 500 rounds so far. I had been leaning to the surefire based on durability testimonials on a different forum. However, I’ve followed a pretty epic thread regarding Ber...
