Re: Cast Bullets Keyholing

Not long ago I tried some 147 grain cast truncated cone flat nose bullets (.356") of unknown parentage (have had them lying around for quite some time). The were loaded in Federal brass, CCI 500 primers and HS-6 powder, 4.5 grains up to 4.9 grains in 1/10th increments and bullets seated to 1.127". B...

Re: Cast Bullets Keyholing

Yesterday I tried some 124 grain round nose poly coated bullets from Bayou Bullets. They were loaded over Unique powder and seated to 1.112". I was surprised to see round holes on the target! The bullets miked .356". The best shooting load turned out to be the maximum charge of 3.8 grains grouping i...

Cast Bullets Keyholing

Anyone else having trouble getting cast loads to shoot in their Canik? I've tried weights from 122 grains up to 147 grains and they all keyhole on the target. Plain base, bevel base or poly coated, it doesn't matter, they all shoot like crap and keyhole. It's obvious .356" bullets won't shoot in my ...

Re: customer service ?

I contacted Canik about the RSA for my TP9SFx. It took 2 tries, at first they responded with a blue link that led to a website to buy the RSA. The second time I contacted them I included my serial number and registered my gun. They responded with an order number and within a week I had a RSA free o...

Re: customer service ?

Lite RSA did the trick, no more stovepipes or empties in the face. One thing I have to admit though; my TP9SA doesn't like cast bullets of any type. I've tried weights from 122 right up to 147 grain, plane base and bevel base, Poly coated or uncoated, they keyhole thru the target. I suspect .356 diam...

Re: STI Firearms

I build my long range tactical rifles on the Savage action. Pretty much all tactical shooters turn their collective nose up at Savage action but, I've made a believer out of a number of them with my builds using Bartlein or McGowan Match Select barrels. I like the pre-chambered barrels. I can instal...

Re: Gun Blueing, where?

It's getting harder and harder to find a shop that does good bluing. Coated finishes are the craze now. It's expensive to set up to do hot bluing so unless a gunsmith is sure he's going to get a lot of business, he won't bother.

Light spring RSA arrived FedEx yesterday. Spring was packaged in a box 10 times larger than it needed to be but,was well packed in a foam liner. I hope to try it out this weekend.

Re: Greetings homelands of Canik

Welcome to the forums! I was stationed in your country back in 1977-78 at Detachment100, Eskisehir. I was the site medic. Things certainly have changed since I was there. Back then a Turkish National could only own a single shot shotgun. I had a good friend in Turkish Air Force Security, Sgt. Hamdi ...

Getting parts may be an issue. Firing pins been on backorder for a while.
I'm wondering. I requested the lighter RSA assembly 3 wks ago and haven't heard a thing.
Same thing here. I've heard RSAs are backorder right now so that's probably why.

Re: Mobile 1 Lube for TP9SA

Hi GaCop, I don't use motor oil to lube or protect my guns. First off you won't get the same level of corrosion protection. Motor oil protects by emersion and you will need to keep you gun wet for the best protection. Motor oil does give good lubrication but I don't know how good that would be if t...
