Re: Introduction & my wake up call story

My instructor has me on the following regiment - this is all warm up stuff, not actual drills: I have a 3-abreast 8inch bulls-eye set at 5yrds to start with. Shooting to a modest cadence - six shots at any bulls eye: shoot and shoot and shoot and shoot and shoot and shoot. Like saying, "One and...

Re: Introduction & my wake up call story

Welcome, and certainly glad that nobody was injured in your house. As mentioned above - Practice, Practice, Practice! Educate yourself on dry fire practicing at home - fundamentals first, then add some challenge to your practice. If you are interested in home defense, and defense as a whole, yes - c...

Re: Practice Ammo

124gr Speer Lawman, and 124gr Fiocchi when out of the Lawman. I'll throw Speer Gold Dot and/or Hornady Critical Defense in the mix every few visits to remember the feel of them, since I keep the nightstand and carry guns loaded with them.

Re: Anyone deal with Outdoor Limited?

Plenty of purchases from both outdoorlimited and sgammo. Both great prices for what I bought when I bought it, and both reasonable shipping and speedy delivery. I can say with certainty - stay away from carolinamunitions. They may have decent prices on ammo pretty often, but rape you on shipping. Ne...

Re: Improving my techniques...a journey

That's interesting, Bfgloki. I found a similar disrupt in my range visits a short while back when shooting "too many guns". I now shoot no more than two per visit, really focusing on either one of my two carry guns and my nightstand gun. I now let my wife shoot her two guns without me butt...

Re: New Member from Pennsylvania

Welcome! I have the DA & the Elite - both great shooters with great triggers even without upgrades.
Enjoy, and run a bit of Nato through them to work in the RSA, especially that Elite!

Have fun,

Re: Taurus Spectrum

I messed with the Spectrum at the LGS, and had a hard time getting those nubby sights on target, though what I understand is, this is a close range gun and a good little shooter. I've never shot a gun that didn't have cocking serrations, so that was also a challenge for me to rack it quickly, albeit...

Re: Hipocrit fan boys( and girls)

I was at one of my LGS recently talking about Caniks with one of the employees, and just happened to mention that I'd never shot a 1911. Bad timing. The guy standing to my right overheard that, and went into a 10 minute dissertation as to why every other gun sucks compared to his 1911's. Really bash...

Re: CANIK TP9 SUB ELITE

I just yesterday picked up, and shot today, the APX Compact, and love it. Looking for a holster and it will be my compact carry. Bid on it and won for $349, and got the APX $75 cash card promo to boot. I'm going to hang on to the card and hopefully apply it to the Canik if it shows up this year. Nei...

Re: Low/Med/High compressed ready positions question

GlennSFX - Thanks. Indeed that is what I am doing, a lot of draw practice in front of a mirror with proper technique taught to me by an NRA instructor at my LGS. I am using an OWB, Clinger Ultra Conceal, and have purchased and practice in an assortment of shirts and jackets. LGamm hit on my question...

Low/Med/High compressed ready positions question

Good evening all, I spend a great deal of time practicing at home; dry fire drills, stance/grip/sight/trigger pull; holster draw drills, etc. My question is specific to low compressed ready position - when is this position most practical in a self-defense situation? I ask because when I do my holste...

Re: .45 Love.

That Kimber quite the looker. It's one of those guns that has all the right looks to me, with regards to a classy .45. I've had my eye on a Thompson Custom 1911, and would enjoy reading any comments on this gun - another, that I just can't stop staring at! https://i.ibb.co/qDL4TnN/thompson-custom-19...

Re: Improving my techniques...a journey

I am nowhere near the "PRO" level that some of these above guys are. My instructor really has me focusing on level two and three failures at this moment. Level three being pretty tough, because it seems I have to pull the mags out each time. I load one snapcap into the chamber, and one int...

Thought I'd show you what one of Mike's cleaning mats looks like. Very nice. Looks so nice, I may not use it, and frame it and hang it in my gun cleaning room! :-D

Thanks Badgerboy, the B6C is a nice looking gun, though I'd like the option to mount a light/laser if I choose to down the road.

Re: CANIK TP9 SUB ELITE

Thanks for the info. That is a bit high, I agree. $500 or under would much better fit my pocket book. I'd been looking at the Beretta APX Compact & the M&P 2.0 Compact prior to hearing of the Sub Elite, both reasonably priced, and Beretta has a $75 rebate/gift card (pre-paid charge card) off...
