Re: New Canik Owner from Allen, TX

janik posted something about a mount on the DA - check that post out, not sure if you could parlay gimmick on the Elite? I'd have to go back and read it myself.

Re: Concealed carry and single stack thoughts

Don't get hung up on single vs. double stack. Worry first about what your comfort needs are - meaning, hand-to-gun fit, and trigger reach. From there, work on gun size keeping these considerations in mind: - What are your daily dress and activity habits? Are you willing to modify the types and sizes...

Re: Lessons from Real Life Shootings

This example reinforces how important it is, if we are defensive minded firearm owners, to get proper training: Personal and Home Defense Classes (and FOF where available). I can't stress enough after going through them as a student, and currently taking the instructor qualification versions as well...

Re: Lessons from Real Life Shootings

My Personal Instructor, with LE & Security background, told me of an instance where one guy on crack needed 11 hits of 45 acp to drop him to the ground. I will never carry anything under the 13 rds I get in my Beretta APX Compact (plus my spare mag - for failures more than extra rounds). Imagine two...

Re: Century Arms red army ammo

Picked up 100rds of 124gr. Interested to see how it shoots. It was the only 9mm range ammo in 50box available when I looked last weekend on ammoseek.com

Today, was able to get 100rds of my Speer Lawman 124gr from ammunitiontogo.com....albeit at a very high price. This both blows and sucks!

Re: Cleaning a polymer frame handgun.

I have used Ballistol for a couple of years (outside of Hoppes for my initial barrel cleaning). Ballistol cleans, lubricates, and prevents corrosion - a sort of do-it-all solution. Comes in aerosol or liquid cans. Environmentally safe, won't irritate skin. In WWII, it was actually used to clean batt...

Re: DryFireMag, trigger reset magazine

I saw Mike Seeklander evaluate something awhile back, though can't remember if it was a magazine or some special slide and/or barrel wizardry. I'd pay $100 if I could dry fire realistically without manual resets. I dry fire 5 to 7 days a week running numerous shot drills, reloads and failure drills,...

I understand your frustration, but - Sell it instead of stating "not going back to the range again", "and maybe a CC".....best always be practicing Dry Fire and Live Fire with your CC gun. ;-)

Re: What features would you want on a new Canik model?

"Decocker repositioning". Yes, though I can't come up with a good solution. I have a Sig P226 "Blackwater Edition" (never been fired), and it has the decocker on the left part of the frame. The gun is "too busy' on that side, especially since I am a left-handed shooter, so I'm not fond of the Sig so...

Re: New to forum

Elite-S owner here too, welcome! It's my main EDC.
I never use the safety unless I am with inexperienced shooters, shooting 9mm for the first time at range, etc. It's not in the way, so it's no bother to me to have it.

Best wishes,

Re: What features would you want on a new Canik model?

I'm up a version of the DA in .45. I enjoy the DA/SA capability with decocker. Maybe even at 5in. Optic ready another smart option, though that would fudge the decocker, so a hammer version without?
Not so much for carry, but for Home Defense, and range fun.

Best wishes,

Re: Hello from Texas!

I agree, it's a crying shame indeed. But, I am very pleased that it's becoming more accepted to not continue with blinders on, but instead develop intelligent security plans for the safety of all. I hope this continues to spread into other facilities where crowds of people are the norm. Good luck to...

Re: Conceal Carry Insurance? US Law Shield

What is equally important is how you conduct yourself after you've been the player in a defensive shoot incident, with regards to dealing with the police. You have to remember, even amidst the chaos and shock you will encounter, that you are setting up the foundation of your defense - on the spot. Y...

Nice touch with the personal artwork. What does the wording underneath your picture and on the slide mean? (can't quite make it out)

Re: Trade Question

It all depends on what the purpose of the gun is - for you. Like Jester said, sizing down is one obvious trade-off. Aftermarket another.
More importantly, determine the main purpose and use of your Glock and if the Cat will still fit those needs.

Re: Newbie from MA

Yes, based on feedback here, it's crap shoot. Some have issues where NATO helps the gun through, where others feed anything into a new gun without issues.
After the growing pains with my Elite, I just made it a practice on my DA and wife's SC to throw NATO into it for the first range visit.
