Re: Shot the Elite Combat and SF Together

Thank you for your thoughts, and wishing your girlfriend a speedy and full recovery. My issue was a stomach ulcer that rubbed through an artery. On my second night, I started bleeding again, and it took me out. Luckily, I realized something bad was happening, didn't know then I was bleeding, and hit...

Re: Shot the Elite Combat and SF Together UPDATE

I haven't updated my thread in about three weeks. So I felt it was past time. I reached the point that I was ready to start shooting again. So I got ready for Monday. I bought a 50 round pack of Federal Premium Law Enforcement Tactical HST, 124 grain +p, 1200 FPS. Except for the hollow nose, they ar...

Re: Shot the Elite Combat and SF Together

Thanks. But having 8 pints of blood doesn't make you feel tough.
They don't "fill you up" any more. Getting blood has become pretty risky nowadays.

They top you up to 7 pints, and let your body build the rest.
But I'm getting there. Getting back into life is part of it.

If a change in ammo is called for, Gold Dot is a good choice.

Re: Shot the Elite Combat and SF Together

I have just gotten around to following up on the TP9 SF stovepiping the last round with Hornady Critical Defense. As I said before, it only seemed to happen with one magazine. I spent a week in ICU with a stomach ulcer that opened an artery. I went Code Blue and had to be rescuscitated. So now I'm g...

Shot the Elite Combat and SF Together

It's been two weeks since I bought the TP9 SF. My, how time flies. I now have three Caniks, and wanted to compare the SF and Elite Combat. On the outside, the two pistols do have a common size and feel. However, the Elite has a better trigger and a more polished feel. I'm aware that the two guns are...

Re: Saw a Combat Elite today?

Academy does have a SFx that comes with a Vortex, also for $ 729.99.

I got both at a 10% off sale. That took some of the sting out.

Re: Canik TP9DA Burnt Bronze

Well, I went to Academy yesterday. They seem to be the only store in town that carries Canik. They had a DA and a SF for the same price, and I liked the SF better. They had a TP9 V2 in.the back "on special" for $319. It had a non-functional decocker. I really wonder how long it has been in the back ...

Re: Canik TP9DA Burnt Bronze

For me, the DA/SA operation would a plus The double action on the DA isn't bad at all, and I find the heavier trigger pull to be a plus as well. It's not hard to hit center mass when drawing and shooting quickly at 15 or 20 yards. And, a short press check will put it in single action mode should yo...

Re: Canik TP9DA Burnt Bronze

I came back for a second read. I'm just now starting to sort some of the models out. I bought my first Canik, a Elite Combat, less than two weeks ago. It seems to have promise as a carry gun. CA has a plain (non threaded) barrel for the SF, but I can't tell if it will fit the Elite Combat. That woul...

Re: Your First Canik

I had been looking at reviews of the SFx for several months now. I have a Walther Q5, and wondered how they stack up. But, I was never able to actually hold or touch one untill Monday of last week. Academy had one on sale with a Vortex Viper. They were also running a 10% off for military. I was so c...

Re: Range Test Canik TP9 Elite Combat and TP9 SFx

OK, time for cleanup. Both guns were straight forward and easy. At least, once I caught on. I kept trying to lift the TP9 SFx slide off, instead of sliding it off. Wrong manual. :) I had to put the Elite Combat slide back on to get enough leverage to wrench the thread protector off the barrel. When ...

Re: The Offical RMR Thread

When you reach that age, the "wasteful gimmiks" suddenly become Godsends. You don't shoot "better", but now you can see what you are shooting better. Also; even if you have perfect eye sight, if the red dot or laser lets you keep both eyes open, it does wonders for your periphial vision. Lol, that ...

Re: The Offical RMR Thread

A lot of what I would normally say, has already been said; however, I do have a point. Many shooters say not to get a red dot or laser, they are just wasteful gimmiks. That depends on where you are on the continuim of time. We will all reach the time when that pesky front sight is hard to see, let a...

Range Test Canik TP9 Elite Combat and TP9 SFx

Well, I took my new guns to the range to see how they performed. I have to say the guns did better than my arthritic shoulder. I only got in 80 rounds for each gun, but I kind of expected that. When the shoulder hurts, I pull my arm in, and get less extension. That's when accuracy goes South. There ...

Re: Canik Elite Combat and TP9SFx

^^ X2!!! With the Combat being a carry gun, the little bit of take-up is actually a good thing. With the way they polished and finished the internals, the initial take-up which disengages the FP safety, is very smooth. No grittiness at all. Mine is pulling at 4.37#. The Freedom Smith trigger in my ...

Re: Just Bought a TP9 SFx

I also do the 124 gr NATO, now I have to get more. Two mouths to feed... First glitch, when I installed the Vortex Viper, it wouldn't turn on. It checked OK before I installed it. The Viper battery sits underneath it. Sometimes it slips when installing. Removed and installed, works now. I'm 71, and ...

Just Bought a TP9 SFx

Monday I saw a TP9 SFX at Academy. It was a special for $729.99, with a Vortex Viper included in the box. They also had a TP9 Elite Combat, which I never heard of, for the same price. To sweeten the deal, they had a 10% off sale for military. I reluctantly chose the Elite combat, but kept rethinking...

Re: Just Bought an Elite Combat

My FH 509 tactical does have a pretty nice trigger. No, it's not as good as the Elite combat. It seems Canik has done what Taurus has been trying to do. Establish a much lower price, while not sacrificing quality. Edit to Add : Also; my Kudos to Academy in Cedar Park, TX: I was a little confused yes...
