Re: Night Sights for Canik (Night Fision and Others)

This is my second sight replacement, the first being a 1911. Based on the Canik Cerakote removals on YouTube, the black nitride One series are far more difficult than the Cerakote. Anyone with a similar experience would be interesting.

Re: Any trap shooters??

Frankly, the girls I have introduced to shooting have had no problem with the noise (with proper ear protection of course). They were mid to late teens, FWIW.

Re: Any trap shooters??

BTW, at least here in the south there are college rifle teams who will give full ride scholarships to shooters and will definitely give preferences to female shooters.

Re: Any trap shooters??

An instructor once told me that girls were the easiest to train as they have no male ego associated with firing weapons. I have found that to be the case when teaching my nieces to shoot AR's.

Re: Night Sights for Canik (Night Fision and Others)

Update: I let the Kroil soak in and froze the SF One slide overnight and pounded the sights out with a steel punch (definitely NOT non-marring) and a 16 oz hammer but they are out.

Re: reloading self defense rounds

Chrono the factory rounds to verify the speeds and then load your own to that speed. I am not sure that the theory that lawyers will jump all over a handload in a self defense case isn't just an old wives tale. If anyone can cite an actual case of this it would be very interesting.

Re: Night Sights for Canik (Night Fision and Others)

Has anyone tried removing the sights from a One series Canik yet? I have watched the videos of folks removing them from the Cerakote slides with a reasonable amount of taps with non-marring punches, but I am pounding standard punches (with a light gunsmith hammer) and neither sight is budging. I jus...

Re: TP9 SFx Mod 2

I would think that it would disassemble like the Elite (slide forward a bit and then up) vs the SFX (slide off). Is this the case? I also would assume that the current stock would make it a short barreled rifle under our insane laws (but still not as insane as others). If so, I am sure that some ent...

Re: Tp9sfx first 300

Was going to order my SFX with the Viper but had a number of people say go with something else. The Viper is not well thought of. Just to be clear, from what I understand the Viper works well, it is juts an older design and has been updated with the Venom. The main difference is that the Viper requ...

Re: Looking at buying my first Canik

Ditto on the SFx plus the Venom, however I think that the 3MOA is great. You can always turn up the intensity for a virtually larger dot but you can't turn down the 6MOA. A lot of people here really like the Holosun as well. The red dot equipped SFx has completely renewed my interest in pistol shoot...

Re: Black Friday Cyber Monday hauls

PA is good stuff. Personally I buy a lot from B Kings. He has great prices, especially on Ballistic Advantage barrels, and customer service is fantastic. He's also coming out with more of his own stuff and tons of Cerakoted parts in several colors Thanks, I can always use a good new source of stuff...

Wait until you get your next Canik, an SFx with a red dot. It will make your old eyes new again.

Re: Black Friday Cyber Monday hauls

Yeah...I am a stripped lower away from a extra 223 or Grendel. Could just build the uppers but really don't need them.

Also, this is not scientific but the Nickel Boron BCG's sure feel slicker than ... (fill in your own horribly inappropriate metaphor here...).

Re: Black Friday Cyber Monday hauls

Not too much gun-wise or deal wise. I do have a barrel, gas tube and bcg coming my way for the second upper (300BLK) in my matched AR set. Also picked up some Pmags for $8 a piece. Might as well buy as many of those as I can along with ammo. I did get an Olight PL Pro cuz I didn't have a black one ...

Re: The workhorse in your stable.

I have an inherited Army Colt that is almost identical. Can't hit a thing with it but won't ever sell it. My workhorse historically has been my Kimber Custom Target II 1911. Twenty years as my only pistol and nightstand gun. I shoot the SFx a lot more now but need to get the Kimber back into the act...

I would favor the Elite One over the SF (no opinion on the SA).

Nickel internals and a better slide release in a slightly smaller package.
