Re: CANIK TP9 SUB ELITE

I'm no expert, but this is what I think I know. Hope this helps. Off topic, but that what a great turn of a phrase. They could be words to live by. Or with a slight edit a haiku: I'm no expert, but this is what I think I know. I hope that this helps. Or an autobiography or a country Western song: "...

Re: What's a good home defense 9MM round?

I don't think that any of the above responses address your concern. They are mostly concerned with the best stopping power and are all good choices as far as that is concerned. Personally, I don't give house to house overpenetration a second thought, although when I did have the kid in the house I w...

Re: Looking To Buy My First AR 15

The accuracy is not up to the Grendel's. I got it thinking; 6.5 very accurate bullet, more powder has to be better, right? Did not turn out that way. My expensive 24" Alexander Arms Grendel is a lot more accurate than my home built 18" Creedmoor (with a Wilson barrel, so it shouldn't be a slouch), ...

Re: Anyone shoot Precision Rifle?

My really, really accomplished long range friends say that a .22 at 100yds is very close to a .308 at 1,000 yards as far as wind deflection, so it is a great learning tool. I would not get a bolt action to start (and if I did, it would be a much better price/performance Savage LRH - not that the RPR...

Re: Thinking About Getting Into Reloading, Any Suggestions?

Us retirees have waaaaay to much spare time. 100%. I am sorta-semi-retired and already have way too much time. (Remember how when we were young we used to joke about the old farts who were R.I.P. (Retired in Place)? Now that I am pretty much at that point in my career I have no problem with it. I j...

Re: Looking To Buy My First AR 15

Edit to the above: If you are mostly indoor, almost all of them prohibit steel cases, so the economics of the Grendel are out the window.

(Turns out that the ranges cover a great deal of their costs by selling used brass off of the floor and lead from the backstop.)

Re: Looking To Buy My First AR 15

Another quandary is the flash hider vs muzzle break. Muzzle breaks work great, they can eliminate pretty much all recoil and get you back on target quickly but if you are shooting indoor or close to anyone else, they are loud as hell to your neighbors.

Re: Looking To Buy My First AR 15

AR's are like Lays potato chips. But one caliber you should look at is the 6.5 Grendel. I shoot mine out past 800 yards. They can be had for less than $800.00 with a stainless bull 20" barrel. If I could post a picture I would post mine. Keep in mind that I have two Grendels and the 24" one is argu...

Re: Thinking About Getting Into Reloading, Any Suggestions?

I have no problem with Dillon, I just don't know them as well.

But a penny a round for powder means that you are buying if for less than $14/lb (assuming 5gr/load for 9mm). Where are you getting that?

I agree that the savings would be higher for .45acp as it does cost a lot more per box.

Re: Thinking About Getting Into Reloading, Any Suggestions?

I just used Graf's for convenience: https://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/product/productId/3780 $170 for 5K primers = 3.4 cents per primer https://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/product/productId/74244 $200 (inc fees) for 8 lbs. 7000 gr /lb x 8 = 56K gr / 5.1gr per load = 11K loads. $200/11K = 2 cents...

Re: Looking To Buy My First AR 15

Building is the most fun but I only did it after I bought my first (Bushmaster 24" Varminter - still a ragged hole shooter 18 years later). In my next life I'd build one high quality lower and just add or build uppers. Even a big safe can get pretty full with complete AR's. I have been a Giessele tr...

Ha! I'm an idiot. I was wondering how you could load the Rockchucker on such a flimsy mount - then I realized it was just a spare press holder. Cool!

Re: Thinking About Getting Into Reloading, Any Suggestions?

Also try Missouri Bullet. Also recommend the Inland roller bar.

The pics above reminded me that if you are reloading in a small space and don't have a permanent bench you will need a pretty heavy table to mount the press on.

Re: Thinking About Getting Into Reloading, Any Suggestions?

I load cases one at a time (and give them a quick final look for cracks) but I use a tube to load bullets. I'm sure that it's not as fast as an electric feeder but I don't do enough volume to justify it. Amazon has 9mm bullet tubes and a feeder die for Hornady, it shouldn't be a problem. 223 shouldn...

Re: Thinking About Getting Into Reloading, Any Suggestions?

I have had a Hornady Lock n Load progressive for a few years now. The setup is very time consuming if you are changing calibers a lot (especially going from pistol to rifle). Not just swapping dies (although the Hornady system works well), but picking up primers in the tube, loading bullet feeders (...

Today at the range (half price range fees on Monday!): https://i.ibb.co/3BvCcmS/Target-021020.jpg 10 yards, first 20 round mag of the day out of the SFx. The X ring is 2.2" x 3". I dropped a few but not too bad. BTW, I hate shooting irons at the Birchwood adhesive splatter targets as you can't get a...

Re: To us ole farts

I have the 2MOA red dot in a Vortex Venom on an SFx and have no problem with it at all, even in NC sunlight. You just crank it up a bit. And yes, it has not only brought me back to pistol shooting but it has also improved my iron sights performance as well (although it is much slower than the red do...

I was just reading about this on Facebook. Not really familiar with Cybergun, or who they are. Is it just Airsoft?
https://cybergun.com/?lang=en

Looks to be just airsoft. Maybe just high end. The Canik release did say "replica" of the Elite.
