Re: Tp9sfx first 300

Was going to order my SFX with the Viper but had a number of people say go with something else. The Viper is not well thought of. Just to be clear, from what I understand the Viper works well, it is juts an older design and has been updated with the Venom. The main difference is that the Viper requ...

Re: Looking at buying my first Canik

Ditto on the SFx plus the Venom, however I think that the 3MOA is great. You can always turn up the intensity for a virtually larger dot but you can't turn down the 6MOA. A lot of people here really like the Holosun as well. The red dot equipped SFx has completely renewed my interest in pistol shoot...

Re: Black Friday Cyber Monday hauls

PA is good stuff. Personally I buy a lot from B Kings. He has great prices, especially on Ballistic Advantage barrels, and customer service is fantastic. He's also coming out with more of his own stuff and tons of Cerakoted parts in several colors Thanks, I can always use a good new source of stuff...

Wait until you get your next Canik, an SFx with a red dot. It will make your old eyes new again.

Re: Black Friday Cyber Monday hauls

Yeah...I am a stripped lower away from a extra 223 or Grendel. Could just build the uppers but really don't need them.

Also, this is not scientific but the Nickel Boron BCG's sure feel slicker than ... (fill in your own horribly inappropriate metaphor here...).

Re: Black Friday Cyber Monday hauls

Not too much gun-wise or deal wise. I do have a barrel, gas tube and bcg coming my way for the second upper (300BLK) in my matched AR set. Also picked up some Pmags for $8 a piece. Might as well buy as many of those as I can along with ammo. I did get an Olight PL Pro cuz I didn't have a black one ...

Re: The workhorse in your stable.

I have an inherited Army Colt that is almost identical. Can't hit a thing with it but won't ever sell it. My workhorse historically has been my Kimber Custom Target II 1911. Twenty years as my only pistol and nightstand gun. I shoot the SFx a lot more now but need to get the Kimber back into the act...

Re: Hello from Aubrey TX

I would favor the Elite One over the SF (no opinion on the SA).

Nickel internals and a better slide release in a slightly smaller package.

Re: Interesting Article: Former head of Brady Campaign acknowledges gun owners are ‘unfairly demonized’

No gun control ravings by the left have EVER been about personal security or safety. It is only about disarming the public.

At least one of their own is beginning to understand this.

Re: Which One Is Next?

SFx Mod 2.

The nickel internals of the SF One are a definite improvement and I have always preferred the Elite slide release over the first gen SFx.

We know that the are shipping internationally, let me know if anyone sees one in the wild here in the US.

Re: What's your favorite Canik model?

1. SFx - it allowed my old eyes to enjoy pistol shooting again with the Venom red dot. And it had a great trigger (now even better with a FS) and was fun to Weaponize. 2. Elite - the Goldilocks pistol, everything is just right - size, trigger, slide release, capacity, accuracy, reliability, etc. 3. ...

Re: Bullet "gr" properties and equating them to shot accuracy

Well, I would appreciate your compliment if I wasn't such a damn idiot... This was bothering me and I thought about it a bit more and decided to actually do some research instead of relying on 40+ year old memories of high school physics. It turns out that recoil is a function of conservation of MOM...

Re: Bullet "gr" properties and equating them to shot accuracy

The lower the power factor, the lower the felt recoil. Not exactly. PF is a simple to calculate proxy for recoil but it is not correct. Here is the load data, energy and PF for Speer Lawman 9mm: gr mv energy pf 115 1200 368 138 124 1090 327 135 147 985 317 145 The recoil is an energy metric based o...

Re: Black Friday 9mm Ammo Deals

Agreed...time is money, and my stock of ammo is high right now...I will pass on the rebates this year... Yeah, I THOUGHT that my stock of ammo was high until I went looking for some range 223: "Nope, that's my expensive match ammo. Nope, that's my reloaded match ammo. Nope, that's my SHTF ammo. Nop...

SF Range Report

After swapping the mag release back to the right and cleaning and re-lubing my slightly used SF, I took it to the range today and fed it: - 100 rds of 124gr Win NATO - 100 rounds of 115gr Sig - 150 rds of 124gr Lawman - I even alternated every other round in a mag of 115gr Sig and 124gr Lawman just ...

Re: CANIK TP9 SUB ELITE

Went to the gun show today and was finally able to hold an SC (price was $379). As expected, it seemed a bit top heavy and wide for a concealed pistol. After fondling it for about five minutes (with a very frustrated sales guy wondering if I was ever going to make up my mind...) I finally passed. I ...
