Re: SFX Blowback Sparks...

I've seen this with an M9 and an older XD. Both instances were long enough ago that I don't recall the ammo. The RO when the XD did it said it was likely slow burning powder, but didn't seem otherwise concerned.

Gaming/BBS handle from back in the stone ages. Also a literary reference

Lord General Alaric Anthony Morgan from Katherine Kurtz' Deryni series.

Re: Canik TP9SA, SF, V2 18 rd mags for $19.95

Man, it seems like more and more the shipping ruins what seems like a good deal for me. I get all excited about a deal on a gun or something and proceed to checkout and they want something crazy for shipping. Buyer beware I guess. I'm pretty sure I may have passed on a couple of good deals because ...

Re: Whats your backup mag EDC situation?

1 extra mag, single or double stack. Off-side appendix.

9 round mag for the XDs. 18 round mag for my Elite. For the SD9VE, the spare is the only mag that can actually take 16 rounds; I've got 15+1 in the gun.

Nice price $10 for shipping is a bit much... Now I don't feel so bad for paying a dollar more at Grab-a-Gun.

Re: Did something today I've never done before!

Got to love them little b@$t@rd$. NOT! They're not as bad here in Central Florida. The 3 year old learned about fire ant hills this summer.... I can still remember the floating rafts of fire ants when the PE field would get flooded during the afternoon storms. Rain today. No mowing or weed killing ...

mow on the weeds
life in the South.
In Miami, I'd already have milorganite and Scotts Southern Lawn down just to keep the fire ants from getting a beachhead in the yard.

Re: Did something today I've never done before!

I've got stinging nettles making a comeback in the backyard. If I can get a relatively dry day this weekend, the weed control needs to go down.

My grass, such as it is, hasn't started to come back, so I might just drop the deck and try to get a close mow on the weeds.

I think there was a similar thread here, too. Started off talking about water storage.

The Wise foods are edible and Mountain House isn't half bad. Just make sure you have variety and condiments to go with it.

Re: G42 and G2C - good afternoon at the range

On the G2C I played with at my LGS, I think I was able to manipulate the slide stop up and down with the knuckle of my index finger.

Typically, though, I'll pull back the slide as part of the loading movement. That works with all styles and sizes of slide release levers.

Re: Guns In Church

At our church, they've started locking the perimeter doors once service starts and they've hired an armed security post to roam the foyer just inside the rear doors. It's a different guy almost every week, and not a few of them try hard to give security professionals a bad name. We sit in the transe...

Re: Buy it cheap, stack it deep

I scored some Blazer Brass 9mm with Federal's promotion over Christmas. That puts me over 1.5k FMJ. I need to start stacking up HST or XTP; I've only got about 15 rounds not already allocated between home/carry pistols. What's a good price for 75-77gr 5.56? Once the IRS sends me my "gun money", it'l...

Freeze Congressional salaries if all the appropriations bills aren't passed by June 1st. If there still isn't a budget by October 1st, there's an automatic 30-day CR: previous year funding minus 5% across the board. Every 30 days, the resolution renews, 2% lower than the last one. Oh yeah, and call ...

The 9c is a Gen 1 and desperately needs an Apex trigger.
It makes a world of difference and it pretty simple. Go for it!
The Apex trigger and spring kits (and some careful polishing) turned my SD9VE into a contender for carry rotation. Just need a holster for it.

Re: What handgun do you EDC the most?

XDs, clip on AIWB, usually gets home duty. The Elite gets weekend and field trip duty. My darling wife has been practice carrying the XDs around the house. She's not quite comfortable carrying it loaded or out of the house, yet. Once she makes the leap, it's a toss up if she'll keep the XDs or find ...
