Re: How do civil wars happen.

This was published in March 2013. It's also a bit of a read, but there are a few salient points that align with the OP. runeight , do you have a link to the original post? This might be good enough to get me out of Thanksgiving already. https://imprimis.hillsdale.edu/the-second-amendment-as-an-expre...

Re: SF Elite Guide Rod Tests

Also "forward weight" to help reduce muzzle rise. A lot of manufacturers use plastic guide rods. Longevity as well over the plastic. D'oh! I knew that one. It didn't occur to me until I was reading it, though. I've noticed the difference after mounting a light to a pistol, but never had the chance ...

I'm too lazy to check right now, but are XDS mags compatible with the XDe?
Ok. Quick Google-fu after getting home. The 8 and 9 round mag bodies are compatible. 8 will flush fit with no sleeve and the 9 needs the shorter +1 sleeve.

Re: SF Elite Guide Rod Tests

Way back when she was new, my Elite had a very erratic/weak ejection pattern. Cases would dribble out and fall right next to me, pop straight up or even bean me in the forehead. Now, with several hundred rounds of practice and carry ammo, she tosses everything out between 3 and 4 o'clock. Hotter NAT...

Re: Springfield XDE now in 3.8" and 4.5"

The only thing an ambi slide stop has given me is the ability to ride the lever so I don't get slide lock, just like all you right handed people have had to put up with all along. I must say, these are interesting. I'm still holding out hope that the Avidity Arms PD10 becomes more than vaporware, bu...

I know ads are a necessary evil, but this seems a bit.... Overzealous? The ad takes almost half the screen and covers the menu bar.

I use unread about 90% but will use new or active to find something I've recently read that doesn't have a new unread post in it.

Re: Cabela's Trigger Locks

It would have to be one hell of a deal for me to make a purchase from Bass Pro or Academy.. Academy can be cheaper than my local chain LGS, but the ma&pa shop up the road will usually come close to matching most online deals.

Re: Republicans Pushing National Red Flag Bill

I've already used the email form from FPC. I'll be making phone calls next week, probably Tuesday. Sadly, my rep is on the wrong side, and both Rubio and Scott have shown their true colors on the 2nd amendment.

I don't recall that being a thing at Bass Pro, but my last visit was 18 months ago.

Academy has been that way for as long as I can recall, too.

This drops the same time as the G43X and G48? Unless it does something extraordinary, it may be too little, too late.

My real EDC is a Kershaw Freefall, Gerber Dime, Streamlight Protac 2AA, 2pr nitrile gloves, RATS tq, phone, keys, wallet, pen, notepad.... Oh, and a CPR face shield. I know. Not the question, but that's what I've got going to, coming from, or hanging out at work. I should probably work on getting a ...

Re: "Worst gun I ever bought was..."

Jennings/Cobra Industries C380. I didn't actually buy it; I got it from my former brother-in-law. No firing pin and no mags. I bought the parts, took it to the range, and rapidly gave myself a severe case of slide bite. After using their first aid kit to control the bleeding, I traded it and got $5 ...

Probably not the best time to point out that I'm suffering through it being 72 and breezy. The amateur fireworks are persistent enough that the 3 year old is already whining and I haven't recognized anyone on Dick Clark's Ryan Seacrest show.

Next year, the littlest will be 4, so we may try for a snow trip during the school break. This year was spent catching up on to do list stuff around the house. Since our temps are back into the mid 80s, I've also got a post-Christmas algae bloom in the pool that isn't fighting fair.
