Re: The case for caliber diversification (Ammo shortages)

The last couple of runs on ammo, I couldn't buy a day off, so I couldn't shoot what I had. It all worked out. This time, I find myself with a bunch of time, but no place to shoot. It'll all work out. I've got over a case for each caliber in inventory, except .25acp. I'm not looking to add it, the pi...

Re: Where do you shoot?

Ranges at a regional chain gun store. Both locations close to me are older and could use some renovation. No holster draws, no moving the table up out of the way. Cautious rapid-fire is watched and tolerated depending on the guy at the desk, they charge by the hour-ish depending on how busy they are...

Re: Locked up and bored

"So, grandpa started singing in the car with just the three of us there. Suddenly, there was a whole coterie of people singing along. It was like just about any musical you've ever seen. People all singing along and spontaneously dancing with all sorts of complex choreography." Grandma got a far-off...

Re: Monday Gun Day (and coffee)

On the ARs it can also be about how the gas block is positioned. Many folks butt the gas block against the barrel shoulder, and this can block part of the gas port and underpass the rifle. The gas block usually needs to be just slightly forward of the shoulder cut into the barrel. I don’t know the ...

Re: BB vs AIRSOFT

In the past, I've been more interested in airsoft than BBs. Airsoft has the advantage of being able to do force on force training with the proper equipment. I've also got a stockade fence in the backyard and it'll take less damage from airsoft for anything that misses the mark. For the right price, ...

Re: Monday Gun Day (and coffee)

Just started a 10-day "work from home" rotation, though furloughs are coming in about 12 days. Not sure which side of the knife I'm going to be on, or how long some of us will be adrift. On the upside, I've got the kiddos through the online portions of their emergency distance learnings, laundry is ...

Re: GHB (Get Home Bag)

What about tourniquets? I have read that ex-special forces folks see these as top of the list in bug out bags. I've got 1 in each IFAK, 1 strapped to the strap of my EDC bags and a couple in the large 1st aid kit. In a civilian context, they aren't the same end-all-be-all as they are for the milita...

Re: You guys crack me up

The question has come up:

Is it Bob's "Big Booby" Barn and BBQ Bonanza, or Bob's Big "Booby Barn" and BBQ Bonanza?

The syntax is bothering my wife, the teacher.
But she's all for big BBQ, though.

Re: Reliable 22lr Pistol?

I'm pretty sure either Classic Firearms or Centerfire had a few for sale a couple weeks ago, maybe they have some mags. Center-fire? I'll take a look. Classic Firearms just has (had) the imports with the fake silencers, but no extra mags every time I've checked. The Triple-K mags get some good revi...
