Re: My First SFx Build

Decided today it was time to give the slide a THROUGH cleaning! Trigger was starting to feel gritty, and with the slide off, trigger pull was fine. I lost track of how many rounds have gone down the pipe, but it's a lot. Decided to pull the extractor and firing pin (FP) block. I hadn't removed the F...

Re: slide won't lock back on last round

I have to apologize. I would have bet my life it wasn't ME! but it turns out my thumb was hitting the slide lock even though I thought it wasn't. Can't believe I've been shooting this long and never had the problem before. It was still weird today when 3 of the same mags would mostly lock back on t...

Re: Low/Med/High compressed ready positions question

Hey Zeda Bottom line is we have to do what we feel is save. A properly working firearm with multiple safeties, should not fire on it's own. Every time I clean my guns, I always look for wear and check functionality. I'll check that the firing pin block safety is functioning, trigger safety, sear spr...

Re: Low/Med/High compressed ready positions question

EDo not carry loaded gun. This is most wrong thing you could do it. Some good points!...but I would never carry a gun without a round in the chamber. Most gun fights are at very close range, and the possibility of not having your support hand to rack the slide is a real possibility. You may need th...

Re: My Super 650 Dillon Build

It's all Turkish to me... How's the drop rate change is fired out of a carbine? The longer barrel does increases the velocity some, however the 9mm cartridge was designed to run in a short pistol barrel with fast burning powders like Titegroup, which I'm reloading with. I'm guessing once the bullet...

Re: My Super 650 Dillon Build

After finishing up my 147g Flat Nose from Acme, I decided to try their 145g RN. Ordered 2500 and loaded up a couple hundred to try. The Hodgdon loading data had the COL at 1.15", I went with 1.14". Got to the range this morning to get some velocity readings to see how they were performing. Here's th...

Re: Grips - Form or Function

I think it boils down to two things...personal preference and intended use.
If it's going to be a range toy, then I'd go with looks and style. Competition or tactical use, then feel and performance.

Re: Freedom smith triggers

I started with the Fat Daddy, which has a full faced flat trigger. I'm now running the Racer, which has cuts on the sides reducing the flat face width. The Vanguard extends the Racer cuts over the entire front/side edges. Just click on the links on the left side to see the different types... https:/...

Re: Low/Med/High compressed ready positions question

Good evening all, I spend a great deal of time practicing at home; dry fire drills, stance/grip/sight/trigger pull; holster draw drills, etc. My question is specific to low compressed ready position - when is this position most practical in a self-defense situation? I ask because when I do my holst...

Re: Low/Med/High compressed ready positions question

Very good advice. Imagine what would have happened to the gentleman in the second video above if he had been drawing from an IWB holster and shot himself. Interestingly, I am kind of evolving into a hybrid of HCR and Center Axis Relock shooting position. Not full on John Wick CAR, but with it I fin...

Re: Low/Med/High compressed ready positions question

I think Glenn's post pretty much knocked it out of the park... Excellent Glenn..... Thanks Tejas Products . My original response post with the link to VE's technique got me thinking about the potentially dangers of new shooters working from a holster. I just didn't feel right leaving it without upd...

Re: Improving my techniques...a journey

I guess I don’t understand follow through then as it applies to pistols. Basically you want to be able to get the next shot off as soon as possible. If your trigger finger is at the "wall", right at the reset, without having to pull through the "takeup", you'll be ready to "break" when the slide is...

Re: Improving my techniques...a journey

Progress Check: I take a shot and am unclear if pressing through to the back of the trigger housing and keeping it there until the majority of the recoil impulse is mitigated before releasing until the trigger resets then holding it there until next shot or if I should break the shot and as the imp...

This... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-_xVdj_ktc EDIT: WARNING ... Drawing from a holster is probably one of the most dangerous things you can do with a gun. The most important "SAFETY" is your TRIGGER FINGER"!!!!!! Keep the damn thing out of the trigger guard and off the trigger until you're rea...

Slide still locks back whenever it feels like it.
Can't wait to start shooting matches.
So the slide will lock back randomly with rounds in the mag? How often does that happen?

With the magwell...you planning to run "Open Class"?

Re: customer service ?

Since Caniks and Hyundais are cheaper they need more service... :-? ...I don't know about that. It seems like most of the guys that have issues at the matches I've been at are running Atlas, STI or Akai high end guns. It seems like they can be very finicky. Only issue I've had was at a recent match...
