Re: Whats the difference

If you are looking for an all steel compact you want the P-100. Tristar's P-100 and P-120 are their version of the CZ SP-01. The C-100 & T-100s used to sell for $350-$400. The panic buying has pretty much bought all the available inventory because first time buyers don't want to spend much. Tris...

I like mine, though wouldnt pay $500 for one could buy real cz75 for that. They're not exactly high demand pistols so not surprised they're hard to come by right now. I looked on Armslist and checked the entire site for them. About 1/4 of the listings were wtb listings for Tristar/Canik55 models I'...

Buddy, that's a lot of information. I keep information of my guns too but you are taking it to another level.
I agree that price, serial number, rounds fired, date parts replaced, last date cleaned can be useful info down the road.

Federal law requires importer identification roll stamp on all imported guns. From ATF website: Name of Importer Must be conspicuously engraved, cast or stamped (impressed) on the firearm frame, receiver, barrel or slide For firearms imported after January 30, 2002, the engraving, casting or stampin...

Well this is going to be embarrassing. I wish I could say it is something rare and valuable but it it the lowly $300 SW22 Victory. With a Tandemkross trigger and hammer the trigger pull is now 1.5 lbs. Altamont grips and a Vortex Venom red dot sight make this the easiest gun to shoot. Any gun that y...

I also recommend using a laser bore sight as the easiest way to zero a red dot. However, if you would like to have a rest I bought a Caldwell Deadshot Shooting Bag Rest. I got this to shoot longer distance targets with a .22lr pistol and it provides a stable base for accurate shots. I think a sand b...

Can these be found in the US?? Really digging on these right now. Since you are referencing this gun as a Canik I thought I should point out that they are sold in the US as Tristar brand. While Canik is the manufacturer, Tristar is the importer and sells them under their name. You are looking for a...

I got an email this morning from my LGS that said they are getting some M&Ps and Caniks in today and warning that they won't last long. I'd be curious to know what models they get in. Not that it matters, but if they are the latest greatest (EC, SC, etc), or if it's more of a "send us what...

Price points, many panic buyers probably looking to be as cheap as possible plus limited number of Caniks on hand til more get through customs vs most newer glocks being made in Georgia so quicker to resupply. But I agree good to see more Canik's getting out there. I bet most of the eaa, tristar, t...

For shooting, the T-120 after replacing the sights with Truglo TFX Pro (factory sights suck). I like the balance, the trigger and the capacity of 17 round mags. The Elite is a pretty close second, great sights and trigger. Polymer frame limits your ability to customize the grip to your hand. For car...

Up until they kinda went balls up, I would have recommended Freedom Munitions 147grFMJ. I have a closet full of their remans. Soft shooting and VERY accurate. Trouble is, their pricing now is more than what you can get factory new ammo for. I've talked with a few shooters who are using the Federal ...

I have a T-120 with a 2015 serial number and it is stamped Canik 55. I believe they dropped the 55 in 2016 or 17. I have a C-100 and another T-120 with 2018 serial numbers and they are stamped Canik (no 55).

Project completed and I'm pleased with the results. The T-120 slide has beveled sides from the rear of the extractor to the muzzle leaving little real estate on the top to mount an optic. Luckily the Vortex Venom just barely fits in the length of full width slide behind the extractor. The machinist ...

Tristars of all the P, T and C line 120 and 100s shoot pretty darn good. I love my T-100 and I have yet to order any springs just yet from CGW. I wanted to see how it faired after break in and so far I have not been disappointed. I definitely can see a 120 model in my future after my other purchase...

I encourage replacement at the factory recommended 2500 round mark in the aluminum frame Tristar models just as an inexpensive precaution. I don't know that my gun cracked from a worn out recoil spring but I also don't know whether Canik's aluminum frame is capable of holding up to hot ammo and high...

CGW and CZ recoil springs in a Tristar

I have bought Tristar, CZ and Cajun Gun Works recoil springs and they are all different. This is a heads up to full size Tristar (P, S or T 120mm) owners as to the differences and what WON'T WORK. You can call Tristar and order a spring. It is the same as the factory OEM spring. Kinda pricey at $20 ...

Thanks Doc. I follow what you are saying although I'm getting to the edge of being confused. I guess I'll quit fixating on muzzle velocity and accept that barrel pressures are what to worry about. Since neither Fiocchi or S&B rate their ammo +P I guess I won't worry about damage since their pres...

Thanks, now I just need to translate pressure into muzzle velocity. Can any reloaders out there tell me what a 3,000 lb pressure difference between standard ammo and +P translates into in muzzle velocity? Edit: SAAMI standards reference maximum pressures. What minimum pressures, and more importantly...
