Re: About my load

I stopped shooting Alliant pistol powders years ago for that reason, along with I'm not a fan of anything but the smallest flake powders for small charge weights. For replicating a Bullseye load, I would recommend you look at are Accurate #2 and Shooters World Clean Shot (used to be Accurate #2 year...

I've seen others shooting the Federal and they have been very happy with it.

Re: Low PF 9mm for us non-reloader competition shooters

Most domestic 9mm loads will make about 135 PF in the 115 and 124 loadings. 147 loadings tend to be a bit stronger. You can google "9mm minor" for some examples of ammo specifically meant to make PF and no more. Here is an example. https://atlantaarms.com/products/9mm-147gr-select-fmj.html The price...

Re: Shoot it right out of the box?

Inspect, yes, absolutely. For both safety and possible warranty needs.

Cleaning it though? For a modern firearm, no, I don't think it is necessary. For anything surplus, yeah, I would say clean it first.

Re: Post your "MATCH" videos/pictures here.

https://youtu.be/U730LZtWpGg Here is me shooting the USPSA Classifier CM 18-04 "Didn't You Send the Mailman" with my PCC. With my hit factor, I got 87% on it, which is a low master score. Just to show you how razor tight scoring can be near the top, if I had shot one less Charlie and one more Alpha...

Re: Who "Deprimes" before Cleaning?

Most people who deprime before cleaning are going to wet tumble and use some sort of stainless steel media. I could see doing it if I was going to sell my brass, because some people will pay more for spotless brass. But, just for me? Nah. It's the same reason I don't scrub my guns spotless when I cl...

Re: SFL not on the production list?

I received this reply to my question about the SFL. "If a model of gun isn't listed on the USPSA Production list, it is not approved for Production. Canik needs to supply the forms for any models they wish to have approved, and make a gun available for examination. I have not received any informatio...

Re: New load question for you fellow Competition shooters

I can't say for the Springco springs, but my Canik using the Glock Gen 3 guide rod with a 13lbs spring would almost certainly run that load. Keeping your gun stock isn't necessary, especially in the long run when the cost of the parts gets forgotten. 135 PF is basically factory ammo, but shooting a ...

Re: Post your "MATCH" videos/pictures here.

Mental mistakes happen. Good accuracy is the most important thing for new shooters, because once speed gets involved it is very hard to go back and tighten up groups. IDPA rules are different, but they are much better than they used to be. MUCH better. Under the old set way too many penalties were s...

Re: Post your "MATCH" videos/pictures here.

It is, but you get used to it. It is also our clubs #1 source of DQs, even for experienced shooters.

But, I'd rather have people learn to watch the 180 at a local match. Most big competitions I go to have about 10% of the shooters DQ, and mostly because they can't watch their 180.

Re: Post your "MATCH" videos/pictures here.

I was out shooting IDPA today and giving my new action cam a try. Only 3 stages because of the wind though, and I didn't bag my gun between stages so it got incredibly dirty.

Re: Anyone shooting 9mm Major

Not sure if its Major or not but back in the day I bought a couple buckets of IMI 9mm that was advertised hotter then +p+ and was meant for SMG(I think the IDF used it in Uzis or MP5's) use, I shot a bunch through my AR9 and did fire some through my Glock and ran a mag through my SA shortly after I...

Re: Anyone shooting 9mm Major

Interesting. Again, I'm still new to this, but from everything I've read says 9mm major is standard 9X19 case, loaded to higher velocities, to achieve major power factor (165 or greater). It is sometimes loaded longer, due to powder charge, and/or for feeding and reliability. Are you saying that 9m...

Re: Anyone shooting 9mm Major

It is not safe to shoot 9 Major is a gun that wasn't specifically designed for it, as there is no way to do it even at +P+ pressures. Most 9 Major ammo is long loaded too, to keep it from chambering in a barrel not meant for it. Here is a brief history on 9 Major and the competitive shooting world.....

Re: SFL not on the production list?

For USPSA, there is a specific list of guns that are approved for Production. For IDPA, there is just a set list of criteria that must be met. Looking at the list, the SFL isn't specifically mentioned on there. Neither is the original TP9, V2, DA, etc. It does say "Notes: All Canik models added May ...

Re: Defective FN Pistols

Very smart by Glock.

Meanwhile, in FN gun forum land, an officer shot himself through negligence and all striker fired guns suffer from this problem so why is FN getting singled out? It is always interesting to see how the fanboys of a gun react when that gun has a very serious problem.
