Re: New Weaponized Content...

The most annoying part of reloading for an AR is the initial brass processing. While I still do a lot of my own, it gets more and more tempting to send it off to a brass processing service like M&S Brass. They will fully process 2500+ for $95. That includes cleaning, primer pocket swaging, resizing,...

Re: New Weaponized Content...

I hope you talk about reloading for an AR/M4 as well. I'm interested in reducing buffer spring twang. I will be watching this tread with interest! I'm pretty happy with mine the way it's set up, no butt stock wobble, and no wobble between the upper and lower. I suspect it might be just a tad over ga...

Re: New Weaponized Content...

Why do I get the feeling that I am about to learn that I have been neglecting to polish my flash hider?... There isn’t too much polishing to be done on an AR...depending on the parts you start with, there may be quite a bit of deburring and tuning involved. If you started with a milspec rifle...

Re: New Weaponized Content...

Weaponizing the...AR15 is coming soon. Yeah yeah - I did a semi-sorta post on it awhile back (old server CF forum) and that thread was moved here and is still lurking in the depths of the new CF forum but it merely scratched the surface of an AR mod thread. Toying with the idea of a “DIY precision r...

Re: Reloading for USPSA Carry Optics

Anyone here use or tried BE86? I use it in my 9MMs exclusively with great results. It burns clean, gives good velocity and excellent accuracy. I have tried to find it locally several times with no luck whatsoever. I guess I will have to bite the bullet (or at least the hazmat fee) and order some on...

Re: Weaponizing a PT111 G2?

Finally had a chance to take those out and put some more rounds through them. I am always surprised by how little recoil they have for their size. I guess it’s the double stack grip that makes them much easier to hold onto when compared to other pistols like the LC9s. No failures out of them yet.

Re: Brass Cleaning

 Also, do you dry the brass? I'm lucky enough to have my own brass dryer. for me, seeIng as I do limited amounts in an ultrasonic cleaner, I use the oven on low with the brass laid out on parchment paper. Is that a brass drying specific oven or is that something else converted for that purpos...

Re: Brass Cleaning

The post cleaning process depends on the brass I am cleaning and, to some degree, how soon I plan to reload it. Note for anyone who has never used a wet tumbler: the following methods are going to sound like a huge process when typed out but they only take a few minutes and you can clean huge loads ...

Re: Brass Cleaning

That would probably lead to a mess when depriming. Nailed it. That’s what finally made me switch. I broke two depriming pins about 45 minutes apart due to wedged/trapped SS pins while trying to get some rifle brass with large primer pockets fully prepped. That’s after I used a jeweler’s 1mm flathea...

Re: Brass Cleaning

Shiny! DIY home brewed brass tumbler solution Do you think this solution would work well in an ultrasonic cleaner? Yup. In an ultrasonic, I would try one gallon of hot water, 1/4 teaspoon of Lemishine (or citric acid) and 1-2 tablespoons of Wash and Wax. A 1/2 teaspoon of Cream of Tartar may add ju...

Brass Cleaning

I have been wet tumbling brass for several years now in a modified Harbor Freight rock tumbler/polisher. It is the model that originally came with two small rubber barrels but I had replaced those with a DIY barrel made from 4” PVC pipe with a couple fins attached inside to help tumble the brass and...

Re: Social Distancing Projects :)

I have to make at least two extra belts. My club was already doing rimfire steel matches and they just announced we will be doing MSR matches when the COVID nonsense is over. I am tempted to call them assault weapon matches on social media just to annoy the liberals... Anyhoo, new belts in the works.

Re: Social Distancing Projects :)

Well, with the tiger print I'm pretty sure the hardware needs to be covered in rhinestones for sure. You might have to get your Bedazzler out. Or, really class it up with some of these... https://www.dhresource.com/600x600/f2/albu/g8/M00/B9/BD/rBVaVFzuNHuAXDWnAADlvd7DLgw228.jpg Those bottom ones re...

Re: Social Distancing Projects :)

I will have to order some of this printed webbing to see how well it works with the webbing I am already using. Two layers of the current webbing is incredibly stiff but I went further with the comp belt and added a middle stiffener layer to it. There isn’t much info available on the printed webbing...

Re: Social Distancing Projects :)

It's a simple Double-Cobra weave. The trick is to make sure that the cord is pulled as tight as possible with each step. Unfortunately, I can't find the exact instructions I used, but there are plenty others on the web... Double cobra makes a good carry handle for a medium sized ALICE pack as well....

I really like the look of those... My Kore belt is starting to fray and I can tell the inner hard lining is starting to break down... Any plans in the future to sell them.... I wasn’t planning on it but I recently spoke to one of my neighbors who happens to run an upholstery shop. He has industrial...

Social Distancing Projects :)

I had a few minutes of spare time due to some COVID-19 cancellations and decided to crank out a couple DIY projects. The original idea was to make a new inner and outer belt for CO but I had enough material left over to also make a new carry belt. As usual, I got a little carried away and added some...
