Over pressing the primer can cause that too.

Re: Eight Weeks of practice, Feedback apprciated

Couldn't wait, went down to the range too early in the morning. Right at freezing. After 30 minutes I was full cold. Here are the first three 5 shot rounds, each hit was stickered then 5 more shots in the next image. Started with an OK set, then an amazing set, then back to an OK set. The glasses ar...

Re: Eight Weeks of practice, Feedback apprciated

The new glasses came today. Now I can compare them. The pair I used at the range (last post with the target pic) both lens had the 24" focus good, distance was a bit fuzzy. The new pair the left eye is for seeing distance and the right eye has the 24" focus adder. Since my right eye is dominant eith...

Re: Eight Weeks of practice, Feedback apprciated

Well, I do shoot better even using the glasses that aren't quite correct. They do help me see the sights perfectly, which is great, distance is OK too. Still waiting for the correct glasses. Here is the best set of 5 shots. The sticker cover the previous shots showing I had plenty of outer ring hits...

Re: Eight Weeks of practice, Feedback apprciated

Well the replacement glasses arrived today. And as before they were made wrong. I called customer service and told them to cut me a left lens and send only that lens. I would install it. Hopefully that can do that.

FYI, I use Hodgdon Titegroup. It is one of the newer cleaner powders. Interesting to note is has the same grs count as CFE.

Re: Range Day -2-23-20 with Canik DA, V2, EC and SC

Looks good, your going to need a bigger table. Just finished a trip to California. Shot at two ranges: Dublin and Watsonville. I liked Watsonville better, both were indoor. I rather shoot at my local range, more space and the speed bays are for each group to use (for me that can be just me). You hav...

Re: Eight Weeks of practice, Feedback apprciated

Update: Well the shooting glasses arrived, however they weren't setup with the left lens for distance. I should have guess that the lab stopped because they made the lens wrong producing computer glasses. So yes you can see the sights perfectly but with no distance lens these glasses are useless. I ...

Re: Thinking About Getting Into Reloading, Any Suggestions?

My per unit 9 mm cost runs between 10 - 11 cents each. The highest adder is the bullet at around 7 cents each. I use Blue Bullets which uses a coating to keep the barrel clean and is a hardened lead alloy. A pound of powder last for 1500 rounds hence about 1 cent for each, would be half that cost fo...

Re: TP9SF First Impressions

It does live up to the reputation of a "walk on, and play gun". I have done it both ways, purchasing a gun then adding improvements $$; the Canik often demonstrates a ready to use gun that can do well right out of the box.

Re: Eight Weeks of practice, Feedback apprciated

Update: I checked on my shooting glasses order (distance lens on left side, closeup lens on the right). I found out my order did not ship. I guess they left it up to me to check on why my order was being held. It turns out that the lab stopped working on making the lenses because I put a comment ind...

Re: It's official.. I'm better with iron sights

I shake too. I let the red dot vibrate around focusing on the point I am shooting at an then shoot the gun vibrations in all. I really do like my SF trigger take up is a lot more than I would ask for but after the take up it shoots very well. In archery we would say a shot needs a good follow throug...

Re: Eight Weeks of practice, Feedback apprciated

I did take a look. There is a tactical mode. Might be OK for 25 yards and less. That would be good enough for the local fun shoots.

Re: Eight Weeks of practice, Feedback apprciated

OK, I made a modified pair of glasses, the right lens set to see the sights, the left lens for distance. Went to the range 30 minutes before dark. Setup two sets of two 6" diameter targets. Then shot the four targets at 10 yards. Quick, but not fast. Repeat this drill 10 times. Image shows the right...

Re: Eight Weeks of practice, Feedback apprciated

I really appreciate all the contributions. In the shoot the first task was large steel at 15 yards. I certainly did that as a point and shoot, no problem and obtained a short time score. That was great. I need to learn how far I can get away with that method, it is inherently the funnest method. I n...

Re: Eight Weeks of practice, Feedback apprciated

Update: 01-05-2020 I helped a buddy setup his rifles and took the 9mm. I didn't have much time to shoot only this one target. Eight inch target at 18-20 yards. I tried glasses two way: 1) clear target, 2) clear sights. Not a lot I can say, but I shot a lot better than at the competition. I want to g...

Re: Ultrasonic Cleaner

I use Dawn and dishwasher descaler in boiling water for the casings I reload. A good choice for water would be from the kitchen reverse osmosis tap. I would think the same treatment would be applicable.

Dawn is both a polar and non-polar soap. The descaler removed hardness.

Re: Anybody use a Lee Factory Crimp Die

I see the floating crimper, that appears to be the difference. Seems like a good idea it kinda keeps the crimp adjustment tracking the bullet height. Pull the crimper out and check it for looseness (assuming the crimper is connected to the bullet height setting die). If it is not connected to the bu...
