Re: Who All is a Competiton Shooter?

Shot IDPA for 3 years. Club recently changed to USPSA...which I wholeheartedly applauded. We shoot one USPSA per month, and one Steel Challenge.

Re: Failure to eject

You need some ammo with a +P rating in the stock SFX for breaking in the spring . Easiest way to get it is to go to Walmart and pick up a couple hundred rounds of Winchester 124gr NATO ammo. Sells for about $27/150. I bet your ejection problems go away. Contact Century Arms and request their reduced...

Re: Talon Grips

I had the granular on a G34, and have the rubber on my SFX, and I prefer the rubber by a WIDE margin. My hands sweat, but don't have a problem with them at all.

Re: Second muzzle brake session.

The NATO ammo dirties up the works real quick, including the feed ramp. Since I started shooting that, I'm cleaning after every range session/match. Works very nicely with the compensator. So does the Speer Lawman 147.

Re: Spring change with mag extensions?

Springs arrived Wed., installed in all mags. Easy to see the difference in wire size. These are pretty stiff. Wouldn't want to load these by thumb alone. All mags now load 21 rounds, and have run 100% through 400 rounds. Oh yes, the slide actually locks on an empty magazine.

Re: Spring change with mag extensions?

Seeing you have new springs coming, take the one that's giving you trouble and stretching it out some and see what happens. I already did that with all 5 of my springs. Actually had one hang up in another of my mags. I polished the feed ramp for good measure. These mags with stock springs are ridic...

Re: Spring change with mag extensions?

An email to TF got me a response with two recommendations. The one I chose was their 140mm spring for the Smith M&P. Ordered five of them. Should be here Thursday.

Spring change with mag extensions?

I've got 5 mags for my SFX, all fitted with Taylor-Freelance +4 extensions. Out of the 5, four of them feed reliably. In my last match I had one mag that would totally hang up the gun about halfway through. This is the first problem I've had with any of them. The spent case would eject, but the slid...

Second muzzle brake session.

Installed 11# recoil spring. First shot with 147gr Freedom ammo ejected, but barely. I thought just MAYBE it would work, but 6/12 failed to eject. Thinking that the spring needed some breaking in, I ran 125 rounds of Speer Lawman, which ran perfectly. Switched back to the Freedom.....same old same o...

Re: which recoil spring with which striker spring

Depends on the loads you're shooting. My RSA is a guide rod for a Glock 17 Gen 3. You'll also need the adaptor for a Glock Gen 4. Recoil spring is a 13# flat wire. Recently, I installed a muzzle brake which fail to eject my match loads (147fmj/950fps), so I've replaced the 13# with an 11#, yet to be...

First time with the muzzle brake.

Got to the gun club early this morning with several different loads. Here's the dope on what I tried: Freedom Munitions 147fmj: This is my match load which I was keeping my fingers crossed for. Muzzle flip was negligible and very soft shooting. Unfortunately, every shot was a FTE. I'm using a 13# re...

Mine ran in about halfway before stalling out. I just took a screwdriver and ran it in the rest of the way.

Re: Has anyone here added a threaded barrel and compensator to their SFX?

While I agree that a 147gr 9mm at 950fps is low recoil, the thing you want to reduce is muzzle jump....which again is kinda minimal in the 9. The threaded bbl is, to my knowledge, only available at Preppers. Ebay has lots of compensators. I bought the one for the S&W M&P. I was chatting with one of ...

Re: Has anyone here added a threaded barrel and compensator to their SFX?

This is the last of the mods I'm considering. ROFL! We shall see... There is always another cool new mod. Lessee.....I've got the FS trigger, Talon grips, Vortex Venom, TF magwell and mag extensions, 13# recoil spring assembly, and 6.5# striker spring. At this point, the barrel and comp are about t...

Has anyone here added a threaded barrel and compensator to their SFX?

This is the last of the mods I'm considering. Curious as to which compensator you chose, why you chose it, where did you get it, how much was it, ease of mounting, and DOES IT WORK? Any help is welcome. Thx.

New SFX adds.....

Yesterday was my lucky day with the USPS. My new Vortex Venom arrived, along with my new magwell and +4 extensions from Taylor Freelance. I started with the Venom, which mounted easily enough after my addled brain brought it to my attention that...."YOU'RE TRYING TO MOUNT IT BACKWARDS, DUMMY"...
