Re: 1911 .45acp questions

Thanks to all of you for your insight. runeight: yes, that is indeed the Sig we are interested in! ncjw: Yes, my wife always has her eye on Kimber, but we honestly didn't take a hard look, though I've seen pictures of some attractive pieces. Next visit ;-) I'm thinking we'll take the plunge with nex...

Re: 1911 .45acp questions

Thanks runeight. No, the Nightmare wasn't in the cabinet. I admit, I loved the looks of the Spartan II, and the Molon Labe themed gun. They also had the "We The People" gun, though the star grips didn't feel right in my hands. In the long run, the Nickel finish just looks so damned handsome to my ey...

1911 .45acp questions

Hello folks, I admittedly don't know a whole lot about the 1911 in terms of shooting the type. I do know my wife and I are looking to add one to our collection, though not yet sure if it will be a fun range gun, or rotate into a home defense gun. We looked a handful today, including the Springfield ...

Re: Canik customer service

Janik, I keep wanting to put my original RSA back in my Elite, but never do. I'm curious to see if I feel the difference at this point. I mostly shoot 124gr, and occasional 147gr. of "quality" ammo. Should it shoot any straighter, in theory, with the original?

Re: Canik customer service

Robert Pitman from Century Arms sent me one when I asked about it (not knowing of the thirst for NATO when I first got my Elite, and having some slide issues), and I had it in three days after our conversation. It's interesting to hear some of the mixed reviews on the Customer Service from Century, ...

Re: New - Colored Graphic custom magazine baseplates

Nice stuff! I own a Beretta APX Compact, is that part of what will be offered for Beretta's?
Either way, I'll get some for my Caniks! :-D
Any possibility of distressed versions? (same coloring is fine)

"I will be waiting for you and you will not get out unharmed."

Yep, as the saying goes, "anyone found here alive at night, will be found dead in the morning".

Re: What are you doing on the 4th

Patio, grilling, my wife's foo-foo martini's, family over, and with my father-in-law, son-in-law, and I, we'll be chatting up the gun talk all night. Though, they'll stay in the safe until bedtime due to the booze consumption. =P~

Everyone have fun, and stay safe! **==

Re: Holster Question: Self-Defense vs. Competition

Great information guys, thanks. While I'm not near ready for IWB, or appendix, I read your procedures loud and clear, and they seem pretty logical. If not carrying my Elite at 8 o'clock (mainly with larger shirts or opened buttoned shirts, or zip-up's), I have my APX Compact in an Alien Gear Cloak S...

Re: Carrying with an empty chamber

I choose to never, and I mean never purposefully allow the bad guy to get any advantage past the one he already has - element of surprise. In the defensive shooting situation, I can't fathom needing to get a round in before pushing the trigger, or, worse yet, just pushing the trigger off of "range" ...

Re: What were you doing 50 years ago (1969)?

Glenn, Same here! I think I had the same models you speak of - the lunar being the coolest of all. My dad did most of the building and I remember him freaking out any time I wanted to touch it. At 7, I wanted to play with it as much as stare at it on my shelf, but didn't want to wreck it and get clo...

Re: How to change a fiber optic sight

I swapped out my Elite's when I first got it in about 5 minutes, to the green rod. I can see it much easier when the ambient light is available.

Re: Holster Question: Self-Defense vs. Competition

So, since I started this thread, I've come quite a long way this year. Private classes, CC class/qualification, holster draw training, and on to defensive pistol courses and force-on-force training. For fun, I was messing with IWB appendix draw with an instructors holster and training gun. Understan...

Re: I keep forgetting to post this

Mike, shot 200 rounds today with the grip on my Elite - felt great, no slippage, no change in my grip style needed, or anything negative.
All good, thanks a lot!

Re: New member from NC

Being an Elite owner, I can only say - GREAT CHOICE! :-BD Shoots wonderfully, right? It's just a well designed gun for it's class. I also have the DA, and bet you'd love it as well. 18rds, so bigger mag and grip, but another smooth shooting Canik. DA/SA to boot. The others here are sure to tell you,...
