Re: Brass Cleaning

When I'm in a hurry and need a bunch of clean rifle or pistol brass I use my Frankford arsenal tumbler with DC brass cleaning concentrate it only takes 10 min. per load. I have found I can use the concentrate twice and a 20 oz. bag of concentrate is $14.00 and it makes 8 gal. of concentrate. That wo...

Re: CCi Small Pistol Primers vs Federal Small Pistol Primers (Regular & Match)

If your shooting a tuned revolver like a vintage S&W or Colt avoid CCI primers also many auto pistols with action work or lighter than stock springs will choke on CCI primers. For small pistol primers I'll choose Federal, Winchester or Fiocchi in that order. You will also find that Federal and Fiocc...

Re: The Reloading Itch Has Started

Sheltering at home has worked for me in the last few weeks I've loaded 3800 9mm, 2000 38 Super, 4000 45 auto and too many 38 spl. 44 spl. and 44 mag to count. I've also wet tumbled dried and sorted several hundred pounds of brass. Lucky for me I've been hording powder, primers and bullets for years ...

Re: New Dillon XL750

I have a Dillon 550 for rifle ammo a 20 year old XL 650 for 45 auto a 10 year old Loadmaster for revolver cartridges plus the new XL750 for 9mm, 38 Super and 10mm and All but the new XL750 have paid for them self many times over. I figure at the rate I shoot the XL750 will have paid for it's self in...

Re: New Dillon XL750

The new Dillon xl750 was redesigend and you can't use a powder checker and bullet feeder because of the location of the dillon powder measure. The RCBS measure will work and give you room to run both powder check and bullet feeder. I have an old RCBS measure from my single stage press that will work...

Re: New Dillon XL750

I've seen several people with bullet feeders are using a RCBS measure that is case activated on their Dillon 750 I might give it a try if I can find a kit to upgrade my RCBS measure.

Re: New Dillon XL750

18 fps isn't much change I have had that much change from one powder lot to the next or from going from Winchester 231 to Hodgdon HP38. I was just trying to show I found very little difference between American made Federal sm. primers and imported sm. Fiocchi primers. I'm going to change my press ov...

Re: New Dillon XL750

I just finished a batch of 9mm 3400 rounds of 124gr PD jhp's with my xl750 the last thousand were with Fiocchi primers and I'm happy to report the Fiocchi primers take less force to seat than Federal or Winchester. Using mixed range brass my avg. fps with the Federal primers has been around 1,077 fp...

Re: New Dillon XL750

I checked several forums before buying my new 750 and found people reporting their machines would only run CCI primers without issues. I checked with Dillon and was told the priming problems were resolved in late Sept. 2019. My new XL750 is fresh off the production line last week and is running well...

New Dillon XL750

If anybody body is thinking of buying a new XL750 do it you won't be sorry. I set mine up right beside my 20 year old XL650 and found the new 750 is a much smoother refined machine. The first 100 rounds I loaded were with mixed brand primers Federal, CCI, Remington and Winchester just to see what wo...

Re: Thinking About Getting Into Reloading, Any Suggestions?

If you are new to reloading you can't go wrong with a Lee Classic turret press and it's not a lot of money. The Lee loadmaster is a fickle beast one day it's pumping out ammo as fast as you can pull the handle the next day it will jamb every other round I have two of them each set for just one cartr...

Re: Favorite gun you’ve owned?

My most loved rifle is my lever action Marlin golden 39M my father and I bought it June 1959 for my 12th birthday. When it comes to revolvers it's my 1968 6" blue Colt Python it's the most accurate revolver I've ever fired just yesterday it put 5 rounds of 148gr hbwc's in 1 1/4" at 25 yards. Of my m...

Federal standard small pistol primers are very soft you are crushing them that's not a bad thing but you may want to back off a little bit.

Re: Springfield Armory Hellcat

My EDC is a NRA edition P365 it had a few issues when new that were caused by the striker channel being shipped packed with grease and metal shavings but after a good cleaning it runs 100%. The good news is P365 prices are coming down I picked a second one a standard model for a family member at a g...

Re: Sig p365 SAS

I have a NRA edition p365 that I've been trying to warm up to for the last 3 or 4 months and it isn't working out the way I hoped it would. So when my local range had a Sig demo day this Friday and Sat. I gave the P365 SAS a try along side my own p365 and I came away unimpressed the SAS is snag free...

Re: What handgun do you EDC the most?

In the winter months when I wear a jacket or coat I carry a XD mod 2 3.3" 45 auto and in the spring and summer months it's a CZ Rami BD or Sig p938. I had planed on making my new NRA edition Sig p365 with a 12+1 magazine an EDC pistol but it has had a few issues that worry me.

Re: Lever action or semi auto carbine?

It's hard to beat a good lever gun my truck gun is a Winchester 44 mag. trapper with a 16" barrel I also have a Ruger 44 mag. carbine that I love but it's value has gone up to where it's kept in my safe.
