Re: Just starting to get into reloading (another one)

I just finished my first big batch of 300 last night. I'm definitely going to need to move my reloading bench indoors for the summer. The bugs are terrible. They keep flying into my powder, boxes, me... Other thing I need is a reloading tray(s). I bought some of the cheap 100-round flip-top ammo box...

Re: Church safety...

I don't know what your C19 protocols are, but IMHO church is not a risk as long as no one sings. It isn't the full experience, but it is probably the best thing that you can do. Being in an enclosed space in a crowd for an hour shouldn't be too bad, but masks or not, singing is just as bad as cough...

Re: TP9 Elite SC colors

... And I think I'm going to like this pistol! Got to shoot it over the July 4th weekend, and was very happy. I haven't done any precision target shooting yet, just shooting the steel plate, but it handled well, shot well, and cycled everything just fine! I was shooting cheap Wal Mart Federal 115gr....

Re: Just starting to get into reloading (another one)

I got to shoot my first trial batch of 20 over the July 4th weekend and was very happy with the results! To start, I laid a tarp on the ground to catch empty brass. I used my Bersa Thunder Pro, as it is a NATO-rated, metal frame pistol. That seemed like a safe option. I loaded a few in the mag, watc...

Re: What features would you want on a new Canik model?

+1 on the .45! Still hoping for a SFx45! Lose the red dot cutout. I just don't care. Not going to use that on the Sub Elite. Might put one on the SFx someday for grins, but that's it. Big one? External hammer! I would love an SFe model. I've always liked chambered/hammer-down/safety-off for carry. D...

Church safety...

Posting this here to avoid hijacking another thread that had mentioned church security: It's sad, but true that churches need to be aware of security risks. My church does not have a designated 'security' team for legal reasons. But we do have a couple of 'safety conscious' people who help keep an e...

Re: I almost did it....

I almost bought an SR9c about three years ago, but didn't because the ergos didn't work for me. Just didn't fit my hand comfortably.

I wanted a pistol that could be used accurately, with confidence. The Sub Elite seems to fit that description better than the SR9c.

Whatever works best for you.

Re: Should I buy the Canik Tp9 Elite Sub Compact?

Well... In true Fanatik fashion, I think the answer would be "Yes"! But: Depends on what you expect to use it for. Range blaster; get the SFx. I bought mine almost three years ago and never regretted it. A lot of folks here like jump on the modding bandwagon, but mine's factory, and I'm very happy w...

Re: Observations when buying at Academy

When I got my CCW (now a LTC in Texas), the class was an all-day affair. We had a range session where we had to fire 50 rounds and meet the accuracy criteria, but the classroom session was all legal related. None of the 'basic defensive principles' you mention. I would have liked some practical trai...

Re: Observations when buying at Academy

No FMJ at Academy, but they had a good stock of Sig V-Crown 9mm. I already had a few boxes of that as I'm glad to have it as a standard-pressure 124 gr 9mm jhp for compact carry guns.

Observations when buying at Academy

I just purchased a new Patriot Brown Sub Elite at Academy yesterday morning, and it was an interesting experience. They had a row of forms from new purchases, and were constantly calling employees to walk gun purchases out to the parking lot. I struck up a conversation with a couple who were first-t...

Re: TP9 Elite SC colors

Oh. My. I foresee myself spamming Academy with visits until I can find one of those. Well, that strategy paid off yesterday morning! I made another trip to my local Academy yesterday, getting there shortly after opening. They had three (3!) Canik pistols on the shelf, all the new Patriot Brown. A T...

I just ordered 1k plated 124 RN 9mm from them, seemed like a decent price. Once I get a load dialed in, I'll be ready to start loading some larger batches.
