It's better to me. Not to pick any nits, if you look at the old site the border outside of the comment blocks were black. That gave a contrast that didn't light up the screen and drew your eye to the words.

This a stark difference.

Since we are being solicited for comments, here's one.

I would prefer that the quick links menu be replaced by button that are always there, across the top or top to bottom in the corner where they are. Rationale: one less click to navigate. I find myself constantly wanting to refresh on "unread posts". I have to run to the top left corner, hit the pulldown menu, read the options and they mouse to the right one. Old site, it's there and one click is muy bien.

It's all a learning process.

We can see about making the links visible so it's not a drop down. We definitely have a lot of tweaking to do.

The current look is not final. We are working to implement changes as we can.

Just to confirm that the forum team made the right move in going to the new forum, Youtube just shut down all of Brownell's videos without explanation.

https://www.nationalreview.com/news/you ... shut-down/

Brownells had some of the best instructional videos on the net, and now they are gone.

Amazing.

Update: Apparently they are back, but still disturbing.

Hi Guys,

Just a note to let you know there is an issue on how the initial forum page appears on an iPad.
Here's a pic.

Thanks.

After logging in, dark colored user name is difficult to see against dark background.

White user name would work for me.

Also, main page shows up correctly now on ipad. Thanks!

Thanks. We had to break away from a third party and do our own thing. They kept changing what was acceptable and what was not. I know it's a matter of time before they would shut us down. I'm concerned our days are numbered on FB as well. But this new forum will give us an opportunity to do things and discuss things we couldn't before, and offer a much more resourceful site for Canik owners. Thanks for being a part of it.

Ill look into lightening it up some. It changes it through the whole forum so gotta keep it reasonably dark to show well on the white and light enough to show up in the dark. Thanks for the heads up!

Hi Ghostwolf308,

I am happy to say that the color and format of the new site is coming along nicely. The light gray with white is easy on the eyes and looks great. I like the dark gray menu bars at the top with white writing. It does seem that the member name in black on the dark gray menu bar is out of place. Would be better in white like the rest of the writing on the menu bar. I like the single line separator between threads on the new post list.

I think a big thumbs up for your effort. Some time in the future I hope to see the "Smilies" list improved. Be great to have more choices. Especially Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down.

Frank

Got to say, very good incremental changes. Much easier on the eyes now. Hats off to the staff! 👌

Now, if we just had a couple of buttons vice pulldown menus on the top...

Here another request for a change; in the old forum if you highlighted a chunk of a comment it allowed you to quote just that part. In the new forum, when you hit the quote button, it quotes the entire comment and if they had quoted somebody else, it adds that in too. You have to manually edit out all the other stuff you didn't want to quote.

So, either I'm missing a step in the process or, you're making my work at being a smarta$$ more difficult. Just saying...

I like the thumbs up option.

Not such a fan of a thumbs down option.
There's enough negativity in the world already.
