Will any of the threads from the old forum transfer over? Also, when will the old forum go away?

No, there's no way to transfer the content unless people do it manually. No time frame for how long it will still be up.

I wrote a couple advice threads about 3-gun shooting on the old forum. Are you fine with me manually transferring them to the new forum?

Absolutely! That would be great to preserve as much of the info as possible. I wish we could back up all the content on the old forum, but unfortunately it's not an option. Thankfully with this new forum, we can back up everything and preserve it.

Thanks, I moved them over.

Something I noticed when making the threads (and believe me I'm no computer person) is that sometimes pictures I would attach would disappear after using the preview thread button.

Are you using the attach option down below the window? So far I haven't had any issues with that but I do find I have to put the cursor exactly in the text body where I want the image embedded. Let us know if you have any more issues with it.

Yeah, I was using the attach button and then inserting them inline. I would preview the thread, and sometimes the pictures wouldn't show. Instead a little message saying that the image was no longer available would appear.

Edit: An example of what I am talking about. This is after the picture is attached. All I did was open the thread for an edit and press the preview button. It isn't 100% of the time, or with 100% of the pictures.

Hi Janik,

Congratulations on the new site.

I read that we were supposed to send a PM to get our Member number manually added. I tried to send a PM but the system said I didn't have the ability to send a PM.

My member number is 013 and my old name was frankW. I see that I registered FrankW instead of frankW. I hope that is not a problem. I prefer the FrankW.

A couple of things I noticed.

1. I can't send a PM from the home page.
2. I don't see a "New Post" link on the home page. Hate to see this go away.
3. Really dislike the format but maybe it will get better.
4. Really dislike the color layout.

Frank

Frank,

in the upper left corner you should have a quick links button. under there you can go to active threads which is basically recent posts.

Just curious what about the color layout and format do you not like?

Hi Ghostwolf308,

I would like to use the Forum a little more before I comment in detail. It may be better with more use. I did discover the New Post link in the upper left hand corner after I made my post. Links that we use every time we visit the site would be easier to use in a menu bar across the top. The menu bar is already there.

As to the color, there is just too much gray. The whole screen is two shades of gray. If you are striving for a different look than other Forums, you have hit your target.

I do have a few questions.

1. Do I have to subscribe to every thread I want to follow? Shouldn't I be automatically subscribed to a thread that I Post to?

2. I sent a PM and was advised that the PM was successfully sent but it is listed in my Outbox and not in my Sent Messages list. Am I missing options for every sent PM to be stored in my Sent File?

3. When I start a new paragraph in a post the first letter typed skips down a line. So If I double space to start a new paragraph it starts three lines down instead of two. Is this the intent or a glitch?

Frank,
I went ahead and made a change so that when you create a new thread it will automatically subscribe you. for the ones you have already posted you would need to check the "Notify me when a reply is posted" box or use the topic tools at the top of the page.

As far as the PM's go phpbb is setup so the outbox is where messages go before they are read by the person receiving the pm. Once it has been read by the recipient the pm will be moved to the sent box. this allows you to edit or delete the message before it has been read if need be.

As for the new paragraph issue, I am not seeing that when making a post. the only spaces I get are when I hit enter. Might be a glitch please keep an eye on it and keep us informed.

I've got to say that you folks with the bright blue signatures do not show up very well. Just saying.

Changed it so the colors would be lighter to show up better

Thanks for that change. Makes life a little easier.

Understand. That makes sense.

It didn't do it when I wrote this post. Maybe it was with a PM. I will let you know if I see it again.

Just throwing my nickel in; after going back and forth between the two sites, this color combo SUCKS! That's a technical term....

My old eyes don't like it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
