RSO to the rescue!

Post by Lgaam » Sun Oct 07, 2018 3:22 pm

I know we have a couple of range officers in here. Not sure how a FB link will work, but trying it anyway.

Dayum!

More proof that some humans should not own firearms, or pets.

Sometimes it just plain obvious that someone should not have a gun.

I hope he kicked his stupid azz out and kept the gun....or called the police and gave it to them.

I can't be sure, just looking at the clues in the video...
I'm guessing it was a range rental. They're both wearing rental ears, there's no evidence of a gun case or range bag and the way they walked up at the start...

I'd hope there was some edumacation on the way to the door. Ignorance can be corrected; stupid will eventually take care of itself. If all these guys knew was TV or movie gun culture, the safety waiver they signed on the way in really isn't going to mean very much without someone explaining it.

Not too long ago, Mas Ayoob had a ND in one of his classes. It can happen, even if you know and live the rules but you become complacent. As I recall, it was a revolver, too.

Now, if these guys were just booted, they're still ignorant and prone to doing the same thing at the next range. Or they decide guns are stupid and live and vote that way here on out.

Unbelievable...I know people are stupid, but this video emphasizes just how stupid...but that Range Officer was quick and on the ball. Kudos to him. Wow, I am still reeling from disbelief... ~X(

One of myriad paranoid ad blockers or virus blockers or tracker blockers or something is not allowing the video. Got a link?

Check me on this, but it looks to me that there was no mag and nothing in the chamber when the radio RSO clears the weapon. The friend picks up the mag during the selfies and drops is as they're escorted away.

Rob Pincus was just on Armed American Radio and made a big deal about it actually being loaded.

It makes no difference in the moment. The RSO was 100% right, regardless. It bothers me, though, that a public face that nominally represents the community resorts to hyperbole. The safety violations are egregious. Even if the RSO was standing in the stall and knew the status of the weapon, the reaction is completely justified. There's no need to escalate the situation, especially when the public video seems to contradict the statements.

I agree there appears in the video to be no mag in the pistol, nor round in the chamber. Guy is still a deadly accident just waiting to happen. Hopefully the RSO/staff educated/trained the guy going forward. Definitely a teaching moment and a video that will probably be viewed by millions going forward.

But being disingenuous about the event serves no purpose whatsoever.

Saw this on FB as well. We are starting our RSO training in a week and this left me floored.

But I have to say, I wouldve been nervous that starling the guy and grabbing his wrist wouldve made him tense up and fire the gun.

Thanks for trying, but as long as it is linked to FB, I can't see it (not a FB person). Here is the Youtube link (although who knows how long it will be up):

...and I agree, the RSO acted appropriately and this range should ban them. It may cause them to take safety more seriously before trying some other range, but this range cannot bear the legal liability of having these idiots doing something else stupid at their range after having this on video.

I have never had to grab someone that forcefully but, not too far from it. They were starting to turn towards their left and the muzzle was following. I caught the swing and pushed the firearm to the bench. They got it as soon as I did it.

Per an interview with one of the RSO's and local news, the gun was unloaded at the time and both gentlemen have been permanently banned from the range.
