Theoretically, the EOTech-like halo on the reticle should allow you to pick up the center dot much faster.

Can anyone confirm this?

Re: PPQ M2 SC

As I understand it, the Elite (or Elite-S) is the smallest Canik TP9 series for carry. Retail is around $400.

They are still marketing the heck out of the Mete-S, just not here in the states. New photo:

Re: The Elite Combat is almost here!

I absolutely agree and wouldn't buy one myself. I'm still in marketing consulting mode and throwing out competitive price points as examples of where the market is at for this class of product. Nothing here should be construed as questioning the quality or desirability of the Elite Combat if that is...

Re: AR-SBR-Shotgun etc. for home defense

Any 223 should penetrate standard Kevlar Level I-IIIa vests, these are meant to stop handguns. Green tip can penetrate Level III with a carrier. When you get to Level IV vests with anti-armor piercing carriers, they theoretically should stop up to and including 7.62 AP. Naturally, the bulk, weight a...

Check out the NRA's CarryGuard:

Disclosures: not trying to sell it, not affiliated, don't have it, haven't vetted it, neither recommending nor discouraging it.

Re: Canik TP9 Series Modifications and Upgrades

I can see how the first shot may take a bit longer with the RMR until you get used to it but I don't see how the follow up shots would take longer. In my experience they are a LOT faster (could be I was just really slow for both...).

Re: The Elite Combat is almost here!

The Springfield XDM OSP is out. RMR with a threaded barrel (and free non-threaded barrel included). Street price seems to be around $635.

FWIW.

Re: AR-SBR-Shotgun etc. for home defense

An interesting question. The GD (and I assume the Fusion) are better than average but nothing is actually "barrier blind", you just have a higher probability depending on angles, material, etc. As you know, the real world is obviously not the same as test conditions. Let's hypothetically imagine tha...

Re: AR-SBR-Shotgun etc. for home defense

Inside: 1911 (although considering switching to an Elite-S)

Outside in times of "civil unrest" (I like that better than SHTF): AR w/ 62gr or 64gr Gold Dots.

Re: The Elite Combat is almost here!

Although I didn't understand a word, they produced a pretty professional video. The only problem is that is not the pistol that you would get here in the states. No threaded barrel, it is the -S variant which is not available here and I would bet that some of the Salient upgrades are not on it. BTW,...

Kimber Micro .380 cocked and locked.

Since it has 1911 controls, that means hammer fired with the safety engaged.

Re: AR15 Optics

I am just trying to understand why the 1-4/6/8x market is so popular (and why I have a perfectly good EOTech sitting in a box and a 1-4x on my AR...). For 1-25 yards, a red dot will be equal or better (and cheaper), but quickly loses it's advantage at distance. At 300 yards and over, a 4-14x will b...

Re: AR15 Optics

Variable optic vs Red Dot: A red dot is a really good option, out to 200-300 yards, if everything you shoot at is torso sized, stands out against the background and has an obvious center to aim at. But, once you start shooting at things that blend in, are small, or irregularly shaped, the red dot g...
