Re: Ruger American Slide Cracking saftey bulletin

Makes me glad that I traded the one I had for a TP9SF Elite. I've never looked back.

Re: Who carries a Canik

My Elite is my edc. I carry at 3:30 using a clinger no print wonder IWB. My personal philosophy is to use a weapon that will handle any problem that may come up first and to worry about concealing it second. Warm weather just requires wearing a loose fitting shirt for a cover garment, I find that a ...

Re: What does your screen name mean?

Mine was just something I came up with on the spot. Since I now have a great granddaughter I thought it appropriate. Born in 1955.

Re: New Guy - Indiana

Welcome aboard! Live in Bedford, south of Bloomington, I grew up in Bedford and was in the last graduating class at the old Bedford High School before BNL opened up. We lived in the same house just across Leatherwood creek from Brook Knoll on one side and Otis Park on the other. When it was built i...

That's what they say. We won't know for sure until we get there. Hopefully not for some time yet.

I guess you could call this Elite range report III

I haven't posted anything on my pistol for a long time basically because I had nothing to report. I've sorta lost count of how many rounds I've shot at this point, except that I know I've blown through 2k. The last 500 or so have been Winchester NATO spec ammo that I bought at walmart for 27 bucks f...

Re: Great post on law of self defense from a true expert

There was a case a few years ago, 2008 I believe. An officer named Tim Gramins got in a shootout with an armed robber. Gramins was armed with a Glock 21 .45 ACP with Speer Gold Dot 230 grain ammo. He fired 33 shots and scored 17 hits before the robber finally went down. These are the kind of inciden...

Re: Excessive barrel wear on the slide

Yeah it has to do with the nature of cerakote. Since the stuff is sprayed on and then baked you can get high points in the finish where it is a little thicker than others. It should settle down once the high points break in.

Re: Why no TP9 sub compact?

I would be delighted to hear that gca 68 was allowed to expire. I bought a few BUG guns when it was in effect and it screwed them up for the user. My Beretta model 70 in 22 had a thumb rest in the plastic grip that make it awkward to hold. The Taurus 38 had some oversized wooden grips that had never...

Re: Why no TP9 sub compact?

I probably should have added that as far as I know the subcompact guns are being manufactured inside the US. Sig for instance makes the 365 in a facility in this country. If any of the other foreign companies are importing any subcompacts I'm not sure how exactly they are getting around GCA 68. This...

Re: Why no TP9 sub compact?

Well there is the gun control act of 1968 that banned the import of foreign manufactured guns based on size. this was why Walther, for instance had to stop the importation of the PPK. What they did was put a PPK barrel and slide on a PP frame and came up with what they called the PPKs which was sold...

Re: Has anyone experienced this?

Target Sports has the CCI Polymer coated ammo for $169.90 and free shipping on 3000 round box. This stuff is awesome. https://www.targetsportsusa.com/cci-patriot-pack-22-long-rifle-ammo-40-grain-white-red-blue-coated-921rwb-p-83040.aspx Thanks for the tip. I think that I want to shoot some more of ...

Re: Has anyone experienced this?
I made a few calls and actually found a place in this liberal college town that had some CCI Mini Mags in stock so I picked up 200 rounds to test it out. My next day off we'll go for round 2 on this. I never liked Remington Golden Bullet loads, too dirty. We'll see.
I went out this...

Re: Has anyone experienced this?

https://thumb.ibb.co/bXbPuo/DSCF2028zoom.jpg well it didn't make it to 300 rounds. after about 175 rounds I noticed that it was doing it again. I was seeing lead at the muzzle crown again so I went home and cleaned out the barrel with some Hoppe's Elite bore cleaner and there was lead all over my c...

Re: Has anyone experienced this?

Well that sucks. The S&W M&P Compact is similar in size to the ruger, you can also get kits to swap followers out of the mags get 14rd's with it. If you do go walther get the newer one not the P22, the p22 isn't made by walther its made by Uramax and made from pot metal licensed by Walther, nearly ...

Re: Has anyone experienced this?

Update on the SR22P. I sent it to ruger on wednesday, they received it of Friday, did some repairs, shipped it out on the nest Wednesday, and I got it back friday. A total of a week and a half. I'm impressed really. They changed out the barrel, the right side insert (whatever that is I don't have a ...

Re: Keeping them stock

I never change out anything except sights and maybe grips on my guns. I had been reading about customized guns when I was younger and gotten the bug. I ended up with some half a==ed work done by some big name smiths and came to the conclusion that if you want it to work right in the long haul leave ...

I would say there is a problem and call or e-mail Ruger about it.
I can see some leading in 200 rounds but not so much to cause this problem.
already in progress. I"m sending them the gun in that condition as well as a couple of the cases that exhibit the high pressure signs.

Re: What's Your Favorite EDC Handgun?

Currently it's my Canik Elite. Due to getting a string of faulty guns from S&W and Colt back in the 70s I carried a Ruger Speed Six, 2 3/4 inch barrel, round butt, .357 mag for 25 years.I grew to appreciate a cut down service weapon since I can run it much better than a pocket pistol. Tried the Glo...
